Last fun fact, Aster is going to be losing his ability to fight entirely soon (ish). In order to protect others from his prophetic abilities, Aster will need to be veiled at all times. He cannot make eye contact. So fighting will be TOUGH for him. I plan to give him a lace veil, but even then... :)
When Aster fights, its a dance. He moves quickly and tries to finish the fight quickly. He'd rather run if things look like they'll drag on for too long, rather than try to tough it out.
He works best alongside a tank-type class, who can hold focus while he darts in and out. (Vibh is that for him)
Aster played the harp first, and then fiddle and flute. His true love are stringed instruments. After he was held captive by the Chalice, he stopped playing music. He stopped singing. Aster hasn't picked either one back up, though he HAS started humming old ballads around his loved ones. Progress...
Aster used to be a bard. He comes from a family of bards and lorekeepers, who used song and poetry to maintain the oral histories and traditions of the Veena in Skatay. They traveled from village to village, collecting stories and history and news to spread.
He's always been a musician.
In the same vein, Aster's prophetic ability is the same. Though, he's using the blood of others instead of his own. Consuming great quantities of aether beyond what his own broken aether can handle.
His prophecies take a huge toll on him, leaving him weak and ill for days afterwards.
After a fight that pushes past his capabilities, Aster has to go into a deep sleep. Torpor, essentially, for those familiar with VTM :3c
So, his fighting is VERY careful and calculated. How far can he go without tipping the balance?
When he pushes himself too far, he'll get sick. Dizziness, bleeding from his nose and ears, and burst capillaries in his eyes all occur depending on how far he pushes. Too far, and he'll pass out.
His focus helps him get around this, by amplifying the aether in his blood like a typical rdm focus.
For Reasons, Aster does not regenerate his own aether. This is why becoming a nightkin has been so beneficial to him. He can take from other sources to replenish.
Expending his own blood/aether in a fight is dangerous in long stretches because he will not recover on his own. So fights are quick.
Talking about Aster's fighting style today!
He is a modified red mage, fighting with a rapier and a focus crafted as a gem-inlaid dagger. His fighting style is inspired by la verdadera destreza
Aster's aether comes from blood, so his focus is a conduit for his own blood. He has to bleed to fight.
