Ha, I figured.
I started using Claude at the beginning of the year (before the DoD issue). It has been a game changer for making me more efficient. It has made me re-think my prior of AI skepticism

I really do think all scientists should be proficient in these tools
I have found that AI really helps me be more efficient with the paperwork and admin processes of doing clinical research. At the same time, it has never helped me come up with a new scientific idea I thought was very compelling
But a lot of the work of being scientist is basically managing a small business. AI can tangibly make a difference here, even "non-scientific" things like copyediting protocols, translating study documents between languages, helping to write code for first-pass analyses, etc.
I have a slightly different view. I agree with your perspective that AI isn't going to let you delegate the hard work of coming up with ideas, interrogating them, running them by your buddies, putting them, and writing a legit aims page
“No banned words”
This mechanism is a monstrosity. 30 pages of science, minimum, now?
The thing that stops me in my tracks is the lack of insight that the son didn’t consent to die because of his unvaccinated status.
I have done this before for an Elsevier journal and accidentally submitted the published article. I only realized this later, after the paper was formatted for PMC and went up there. Never heard a word about it
Exactly, I’ve had to revise multiple grants to remove naughty words. Maybe it’s technically not NIH but OPM/Vought. But either way, Jay can go to hell acting like this isn’t happening.
We must never forget that Elon is directly responsible for millions of deaths due to his destruction of USAID. He is an evil monster. The Nazi comparison is not merely a hypothetical analogy
“By white people who wanted to preserve their politico-economic interests and had a second order interest in abolition”
Dave is right here
She is nothing less than an American hero. her courage and conviction is breathtaking. deep down they know she is right and that is why she is targeted.
We support you @jenna-m-norton.bsky.social
No it’s not. It‘s just not a good life which is something different
You are right. The thing that makes Vinay’s case even more tragic is that he legitimately was a creative and impactful scholar. You could disagree with him, but his arguments were very strong.
I’m not sure if Huberman ever was at that level.
Alex Pretti made the “mistake” of helping up a woman who had been pepper sprayed in the face and pushed down on the ground.
He made this comment in July 2025. We don’t need fake things to be made at. there is enough real stuff.

Fair enough. Then maybe she should just keep her mouth shut then?
Is there no hill the Democrats are willing to die on?
Maybe NIH funding is not that hill, I understand. But maybe it should be? Protecting NIH funding is among the most bipartisan and politically prudent hills to claim.
The tone of her message is just so infuriating. MYF at 2025 levels is a huge cut. Shame on her for the spin.
bsky.app/profile/accu...
So I find this message pretty enraging. "More research grants awarded..." Is this spin...?
If I'm going to be screwed over by the politicians I voted for, at least they could be honest about the fact that they screwed me over when they had to make trade-offs.
This semi-self congratulating message ("$415mm increase") omits the the fact that maintaining MYF at 2025 level is a massive effective NIH cut (as you know).
G Elliot Morris is not serious. Every piece of data always shows how great Dems are doing. In this example party ID exactly where it was in Trump 1.
Real progressives are serious about data.
So I just have a lot of skepticism
I don’t want to overgeneralize but in my field (translational med end), the field is saturated by extremely low quality quasi mill papers. I do editorial work too and we just don’t see high quality papers coming in from Chinese lead author groups.
Denis how much do you believe in the argument here about Chinese emerging dominance?
You rightly are skeptical of Susan Collins but sad to say we should be equally skeptical of Democrats holding the line here as well.
Absolutely outrageous on so many levels
How frustrating to spend multiple hours getting this ready, as demanded by NIH, and then to have them delete the data I manually entered.
It's almost like this administration doesn't like scientists! (sarcasm)
