Anyone had this year's vomiting virus? It's completely wiped me out.

That's a great assessment, thanks for writing it, and sharing.

Paul Taylor Β· A Way to Be a Person: Overdiagnosis The harder you look for a disease, the more cases of it you will find. At some point you will find more cases than you...

www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4... I don't have the energy to read a book that would make me angry. But I wish this reviewer had addressed the thought, okay, what if Chronic Lyme and Long Covid are psychosomatic? What's the treatment protocol? How are you going to make it stop?

Recording audio. Which I suspect is the inside of their pocket.

It's a universally acknowledged fact that a large whatsapp group made of mostly older people will have at least one accidental post or 'recording audio' per week.

Burne-Jones' Laus Veneris in the Laing is worth the trip alone!

It's my favourite terminus station.

Black and white wedding photo. Outdoor urban night shot. Bride and groom in a clinch but facing the camera, both smiling. She's wearing a white dress decorated with black flowers. He's in a suit with a silk waistcoat. He has a buttonhole, she has flowers in her hair and a corsage. You can't really see but it's the wharf of the London Canal Museum.

Oh look and here we are, thanks to ace wedding photographer Sharron Gibson.

#SingingJoy number 4: I sing in one church 3 times a year and today's morning service felt like hard work. Everything was very low in my voice #MezzoWoes BUT some of us went for curry afterwards and then drinks and it was overall a lovely experience.

International Women's Day wasn't such a thing in 2012 but Mr S still marked it by marrying an international woman.

Totally got the same energy, which is a compliment.

That reminds me of the old joke about the American tourist at Oxford circus who asks which way to Marks & Spencer and then goes looking for 'Ivor Way'.

Hyperspecific public sector DP observation: it's really annoying the way (e) automatically updates to the euro sign in Word, isn't it? Especially after 6 (1)

Ha, a camera crew and a producer adds to the artificiality but I was actually thinking of travelbros who are all 'just me and my selfie stick'.

Were you inspired by Monet's woman with a parasol pictures?

I get served a lot of clips of 'men in less-visited countries'. I'm not saying it's wrong for them to go, but there's never any acknowledgement that they're only acceptable to many of these countries as white, straight-presenting men. Or at least that their experience would be different otherwise.

#SingingJoy number 3 for 2026. Last Friday I sang 'Salley Gardens' at a local supperclub open mic. No accompanist, so needed to be a folk song. It was a last minute choice as I couldn't find my songbook with 'Ae Fond Kiss' in it. Just before St David's Day, but I don't know any Welsh songs, alas.

I'm trying to work out under what circumstances it could possibly be okay to use laziness as an excuse for underperforming in the workplace.

Past Katharine was too tired to cook last night and it won't be possible at lunchtime so it's kebab lunch day.

Rick Stein went to Germany and it was terrible.

The thing I find hard to deal with is the women from my very privileged educational background, where we were educated to believe that career was everything, who have dropped out of the (traditional)workplace. Privilege is part of it, as it's clearly something they can afford as a family unit.

Can share the opposite. GP insisted I use their in-house practitioner. She stopped the session, said CBT wasn't what I needed.

Ah Ozzy is nice. The zones get very confusing. And sometimes you don't know which side of the barrier you're on.

I totally would do this but would require an even earlier start from marylebone than it does from Euston.

I read it recently and can thoroughly recommend!

The @ipso.co.uk ruling of Telegraph’s preposterous β€œWe earn Β£345k but soaring private school fees mean we can’t go on five holidays”, reveals the article to have been a fabrication. There is no such family as Al, Alexandra, Ali, Harry and Barry Moy. Glad to have acted as lead complainant on this.

Breakfast on a blue china plate: buttered toast, mushrooms, hash browns, two grilled half tomatoes and a fried egg. Wooden table, newspaper (actually the LRB) seen behind.

#EggClub goes East. Early riser veggie breakfast at The Full Monty just off Roman Road. Mushrooms were perfect, veg sausage a bit odd-tasting.
