That's Not My Name - Megan Lally

Guess Again - Charlie Donlea
A couple books about serial type criminals. Both are pretty good if you like thrillers.

No More Tears: the Dark Secrets of Johnson and Johnson by Gardiner Harris, 5โญ non-fiction horror ๐
I should say when I mean PG I don't mean actually PG. There's a lot going on in this book that'd need content warnings because it's set in the past. Racial violence and misogyny being big ones. Also, there's ableism and the R word for an autistic character. When I said PG I mean romance/sex.

Rainwater by Sandra Brown
A heart touching love and loss story where the main character transforms and blossoms as a person from the experience. Some spice in 2 scenes but otherwise PG

My Funny Demon Valentine - Aurora Ascher
Written like a YA novel, except w a lot of sex. The structure of the grammar & overuse of simple wording gave the impression that this author is young/immature as a writer. Maybe that's just the vibe of the narration. No int in series

The Library of Lost Dollhouses - Elise Hooper
While others have said that the story seemed to wander without purpose in the beginning, I got the sense that it was an important build up. It was imo. I enjoyed the sapphic love stories. Suggestive but not vulgar

The Wedding People - Alison Espach
A pretty dark story. I think this would translate well to film. I was telling my husband the plot of the story and he said it sounds like a telenovela. I agreed and hope one day to see this in some type of video format!

The Fake Boyfriend Fiasco - Talia Hibbert
I typically read books for the plot and story line. Halfway through it turned into a porno manuscript. There were times the sex scenes were so long I practically lost where I was at in the story. It detracted from the experience.

Small Ceremonies by Kyle Edwards
Well written. An interesting look into a world I do not know. As a Muslim, I found the mention of The Creator to be very interesting, especially w how they connect the creator to the things that surround them or happen btw them & nature.

Triangle - Danielle Steele
This was under the horror genre and I got confused b/c I know Steele to be romance. I wouldn't classify this as horror, even if there's a stalker. It's an alright story, though there's nothing that stands out as great.
It would be a major spoiler to say! ๐ค I can say it was really impactful when Lucy had to face her fear during that part of the contest. The end of the contest was also super emotionally charged and I felt as if I were in Lucy's shoes.

The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer
This book is absolutely magical. I laughed and cried with the characters. The riddles were fun to try and figure out for myself before the answers came out in the story. Do recommend.

I Want to Die but I Still Want to Eat Tteokbokki by Baek Se-hee
I really liked this book & thought it was relatable in good & bad ways. It's hard to see the roller coaster & if I was reading this while she was alive, I would've hoped that she was able to find good health.

The Right Call by Tommy Greenwald
A coming of age story about a baseball playing kid and the pressures that come along with that, for the whole family. I got this for my son who plays baseball, but as a parent, it also hit some sensitive spots.
I'm good with that!!

So Gay For You by Leisha Hailey and Kate Moennig
This book is the inside look that I didn't know I needed. It's so delightful to see the two women grow into more mature and experienced humans. Also, they have a podcast now?! Very cool.

Ask Not: The Kennedy's and the Women They Destroyed - Maureen Callahan
I liked hearing the different stories but felt it was disjointed and hard to follow. Overall I would recommend the print version over the audiobook.
I'm actually not sure. There were a few that really caught my ear that I would love to hear again but I'm not sure of their names. I'm the worst at remembering names of things. I can't even put names to faces when it comes to celebrities. ๐คทโโ๏ธ

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
I read this a long time ago & felt it was worth another read. It did not disappoint. As a parent this time around, I struggled w putting myself into the mom's shoes. Part of me having a 3rd kid was trying to get stem cells for my cancer kid

High School - Teagan and Sara Quin
Listened and am smitten w their musical progression throughout the book. Idk if it already exists but I'd love to have each of their tracks played throughout the book to be compiled together as an album, like High School sound track?
In my haste I forgot to write that this book is by Mona Awad.

13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl
This book was hard to read because of how sad I felt imagining the mental health issues of the MC and seeing the struggles. I think watching the slow deterioration made it even harder.
I think that's why I'm so disappointed by this book, because I was really impressed by the Tao te ching and I feel like the Tao of Pooh missed the mark
That's one I have (and love)

The Lost Story - Meg Shaffer
I absolutely loved the queer, poly love story found in this adventure. Having characters that align with beliefs that aren't just "the norm" is refreshing and so fitting for a fairy tale as well. The ending was *chefs kiss* too.
Continued
He puts down academia, having personal drive, or passion, slams time management practices as a whole and would rather people be "an uncarved block" rather than to have a sense of individuality.
I've read the Tao te ching previously and loved it. This was not that. Will reread tao te ching

The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff
The author seemed judgmental. Encourages people not living life & judging others for how they live. Also concepts I hear repeated by the alt-right about "accepting nature" and having little to no concept of nuance or balance. Cont.

Chronicals of Narnia - C.S. Lewis
This is one of those works that if you watch the movie, it ruins the book. I watched long long ago and felt like reading the book would be wonderful, but I had a hard time getting through it.
