For several years, boats and entire docks washed up on Pacific Northwest coasts, carried across the entire Pacific Ocean, over years, from Japan after this catastrophic earthquake and tsunami.

This feels like a very Bluesky coded question : does anyone know of an existing off-the-shelf case that fits an Olivetti Lettera well and snugly? The sturdier, the better - it's likely gonna travel a bit.

(I have an OG case but it is in not great shape!)

Goodnight from Lewis Bramwell, comforted by the thought that if he dies due to tripping on one of the hundreds of books on his staircase at least his ghost will have a lot to read. Goodnight from Gemma Cross, scrabbling to make a chalk circle around her bed. Goodnight from Hookland.

This is a great piece and incidentally explains that if you do finally find ready-to-wear that fits today why a piece you buy in the same size a year later may not fit

The Submarine of Czechia: Or, The Life of a Spy at Mar-a-Lago A version of this short story was originally published in Flaming Hydra, an art collective I'm proud to be a part of. This is most definitely a work of...

so what happened was, i read nine john le carrΓ© books, then i saw the pictures of the preposterous drapery SCIF at mar a lago where the iran war was being conducted, and then i thought about how many spies there must be at that place

and then i wrote a short story

Much more likely we get "Trump attempts to make a Senator a horse" leading to a clearly terrified Lindsay Graham trying to trot everywhere he goes least he invoke the wrath.

No matter which route you take home tonight, you'll still wish you were sitting in a cozy secret library in the forest, sipping tea and reading about old magic with the wild folk of the wood.

Goodnight from Kit Ambler, finding the journey home from his Harrowhound PTSD support group even more difficult than usual. Goodnight from the abandoned armaments factory at Bishopbere, where the temporal shades of Canary Girls remain stained by TNT. Goodnight from Hookland.

Just walked by a colleague's classroom after my class finished and he was talking about Elvis, getting blank stares and so he had to ask "Does anyone know who Elvis Presley is?"

It's rough out here on these teaching streets.

The one with eight different colors and pretty decent pens?

Anyone playing at Ironic-But-Not-Ironic Literary Snobbery in a world of book bans and right-wing censorship of history is a dabbler at best, and at worst destined to become part of the problem. They’ve already got one foot in the misogyny bucket, and will surely trip on it.

the funniest part of this article is when the author hits pause to be like "I personally don't read romance, I am in a book club called the Difficult Books Club where we read the Brothers Karamazov and kind of hate it." seems like the wrong person to be writing about romance and fanfic then idk

On one hand, this feels like the plot of a bad Bond film.

On the other, because we're talking about Trump here, rather annoyingly, I have to consider this as a genuine possibility.

I like when the writers care about their characters, and most of the characters are mostly kind & somewhat intelligent & either they or the writer says something funny or pithily at least sometimes. I can't swear I would read something written in 2nd-person and I'm dubious about 1st-person plural.
