It has come to my attention that Rich Hickey has takes on AI and they're extremely below average intelligence ones.

He LOVED ICE, he deported more people than Bush did!
POV: you wrote the Stochastic Parrots paper. You can either continue this "AI flat earther" performance art and see how far you can take it into the realm of absurdity, or admit you were wrong and have to find a whole new career focus.

Someone mentioned "the Hopi prophecies" and my closest match was Barrack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, the Hopey Prophecies.
my fellow Americans, if you're having trouble finding Somaliland on a map, stand up and check your chair, it's right under Djibouti!
What fool called it "the halting problem" and not "The Shroud of Turing"

I present to you "Trump's Hierarchy of Needs"
I believe this to be an accurate model of DJT's motivations.
this is just a joke of course. I'm guessing bluesky algorithm is open source (even Twitter shares their algorithm now) although I have not checked or attempted to find it and look at it.
Social media may use techniques such as shadowbanning or heavenbanning to deal with participants deemed problematic or antisocial, but logging on to Bluesky gave me a thought. what if a site like Bluesky that was trying to purge conservatives, had an algorithm that showed conservative men more dicks
This is also a common criticism of llms by people working in reinforcement learning, such as Sutton himself. So arguably it's not a criticism of AI as a whole but of one approach to AI.
Summary: I conjecture without evidence that we can do all of science using cellular automata. And by the way I single-handedly invented everything having to do with cellular automata. All complex systems are actually simple cellular automata (just a claim, not a useful theory or anything like that.)
I would argue that Academic Twitter was the one and only casualty of Elon Musk's takeover and Republican advocacy push.
And it was actually killed not moved. Even if you go to the accounts of the same people who used to be on Twitter here, it's just not the same. If they went back on Twitter, maybe
It's not surprising that there are AI deniers, but it's crazy to me that they nearly exclusively exist within ideological camps in academia protecting dogma that contradicts what can be directly observed.
"Try to see people the way they are trying to be seen" is just wise in general, in a way that is not specific to gender at all.

βThe behaviour of my measuring system I made malfunctionβ isnβt actually good evidence but fundamentally itβs the only argument indirect perception really has (see: illusions, studying perceptual cues in isolation, etc)
My political views are progressive...ly getting more centrist
1. not understanding history and present situation at all,
2. very old anti-semitic trope,
3. another anti-semitic remark
blocked and reported
The last pair are non-contradictory. Why would anyone support keeping the irgc in place. This is the perfect opportunity to finally get rid of them. Israel has done an amazing job.
Also "after the revolution", and "after the singularity" lol
Participated in a Bluesky thread in a debating tone with @rplevy.info?
You may be entitled to compensation.
It just a curd, it happened π€£
Brianna Wu is right
yeah because you are exactly the kind of person who represents what doesn't work. moral perfection and purity tests. good luck. never getting anything done with the real world
I have more of a gen X philosophy toward open exchange and conversation than a millennial philosophy. I block overt racists etc but not people who simply have political stances with adverse impact
yeah that's definitely going on as well, but I don't think I'm someone who makes people uncomfortable to say what they really feel. people are pretty comfortable with me.
Something about the nature of social media makes the most extreme voices into the influencers and sidelines the cooler heads. And the most popular are also not the most actually serious, not taken the most seriously outside these circles where they are seen as obviously morally advanced over others.
My sister is a trans woman and I'm going to her wedding later today. She and her fiance are not the only trans person I know in real life, I talk to a lot of trans people. And it's interesting how the discourse is so much more extreme online than with actual people.
Kind of eyebrow-raising timing for the VP to be knocking off items on his todo list like "join bsky"
