Price of Crude Oil WTI (USD/Bbl) over a five-year period, spanning from 2021 to early 2026. The chart shows a significant price peak in 2022 reaching over $120, followed by a general downward trend with various fluctuations, eventually hitting a low near $55 in late 2025 before a sharp vertical spike to the current price of 90.900. This recent surge represents an increase of +23.880 (+35.63%), highlighted in green text above the blue line graph.
The real insanity isnβt how much oil prices have spiked, itβs that weβre still burning oil for energy.

"As CO2 in the air is now higher than humans have ever experienced, it appears to be building up in our bodies. Maybe we can never adapt such that it is vitally important to limit atmospheric levels of CO2."

Give away wood fiber insulation, weβll sequester it in our buildings for hundreds of years.
stress eating has finally become mainstream
So, I'm trying to figure out a way to help participate in how we can grow this system. It seems we both want improved air tightness AND ventilation especially while using materials that sequester carbon.
We consult on a lot of buildings and good builders struggle to do the minimum on this front π
As a former software engineer, frameworks can make or break app success. Frameworks can offer performance benefits, but the most successful ones help engineers get into a flow state and know how to build something. This largely includes knowing where to take the product and how to design it.
The current system of building in the US (especially the Phoenix area) is particularly bad. What we've found is everyone wants to defer liability and that drives business practices.
Prefab seems to bring in a good dose of confidence on the liability front.
I do see building industry moving away from ad-hoc building towards more engineered solutions. Everything should have a home and purpose, it should be easy to assemble and easy-ish to disassemble for reuse.
Craftsmanship is about developing systems that they can use to iterate and grow or improve
I guess Iβm not sure how prefab lends itself to helping develop more craftsmanship and such Which is something many cultures struggle with in terms of accessibility to building healthy with materials they have access to at a lower price point.
Iβd love to have a discussion about off-site panel fabrication vs built in-situ
One isn't better than the other, but the upfront cost of building and managing a factory is quite large. We are positioned to maybe have a small production facility, but I like the idea of pieces being human movable.

The EV debate in one picture: Even the smallest, most efficient gas car has a higher life-cycle footprint than the largest BEV.
Size matters. Power matters. Powertrain matters more.

Now that timberhp is fully online Iβm starting to see some more aggressive moves made by them which is exciting!

I keep looking for a nextjs or remix alternative, have any recommendations in rust?
Thatβs a pretty good roast, but can you make it more vulgar? /s

We designed a building system, it's flexible to scale the building size and layout. However there isn't a way for us to per-approve that system which is frustrating. If all we needed was a site work plan review, it'd cut down on time for sure.
I was hopeful they'd be willing to work with others to build a more sustainable environment but they are focused on themselves and only themselves.
Sorry but a regenerative future is one that is collaborative and inviting and they aren't inviting anyone in that doesn't support them 100% of the way.
I won't be investing in Geoship. I wish them the best of luck and do hope they are able to bring it to market as their building is healthier than most.
That being said, it smells like Katerra and for that, I'm out.
Thanks to Steve Jobs and Gorilla Glass, factories in America are now ramping up to make affordable windows, made from panes thinner than a credit card, that can:
* save Americans $25 billion / year
* withstand a 2x4 shot out of a cannon

I'm surprised to see Alpen in this. They make the best windows for our climate (Sonoran Desert) from a high performance perspective. Now to see if we can get our hands on some to do some testing.
My business partner and friend, Lucas, is giving a presentation for the SW PHIUS House Group tonight (in like 30min) if anyone is interested in joining!

I try, but I think. I think I'll try again.
To bring it out of philosophical thought;
The fact that you care about this and how others are abusing the term signals that you are one of those passionate folks who is pushing for better. To that I say thank you and if I can lend a hand, just ask.
So many people justify their actions by throwing around fancy altruistic ideas but never intend to live up to them.
We all make mistakes, but many folks seem to be guarded from learning and doing better. Many clouded by politics rather than looking to what matters the most, human connections.
