@bell.bz They dressed up.
They put on their best little chili hat.
It’s almost Christmas — they’re basically festive now — and you’re still pretending they don’t exist. Brutal.
A bit more niche, but next to fancy things like scroll-driven animations, CSS also introduced new math functions like round() and mod(). With them, you can take a time value like 1045 (without the colon) and calculate the minutes passed since midnight.

If you want the full breakdown of how this is done, here’s the write-up 👇

Build a multi-stage timetable for a conference — fully in modern CSS.
Each hour grows automatically to fit all sessions.
🍾 heavy use of subgrid.
🍾 round() and mod() to place sessions accurately
🍾 scroll-driven animations for sticky stage headings
There's a new #CSS Working Group poll to get feedback on different names for the infamous 'Pinterest' layout.
- Since it uses many of the grid-* properties, `grid` will be in the name somewhere
- We don't use metaphors in CSS names, so `masonry` is not listed here
docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
Just bc we got used to it doesn’t mean it’s a good name. IMHO something like grid lanes is more intuitive for future developers to grasp than masonry.
Got it! Let’s see if I can finally understand where and why I can — and should — use them.
Thanks, @sarasoueidan.com, for the second shout-out — your recommendation tipped me over the edge to give it a try.
Absolutely love this. 🥰
Quite useful when writing repetitive stuff in css. Like variable definition for dark light themes or nth-child delay things. When writing js I found it to be horrible.
Once it even did a full “slide out of view.” Could be a nice effect — but I’d like to control when that happens, not have Safari decide by accident.
@jensimmons.bsky.social maybe you can tell me if this is a bug or a feature that I can opt out of.
Has anyone else seen this in iOS 26? Sticky and fixed elements shift slightly out of view when scrolling down, then snap back when scrolling up. I made a demo to test it: cdpn.io/pen/debug/Qw... Curious if others can reproduce.

Visiting Seattle… I was NOT prepared for this. 🤣🤣
Breakfast was delicious though!

My colleague @dhoelzgen.dev asked me to build a website for the (re)founded Elixir Ruhr Meetup. Had lots of fun experimenting with scroll-driven animations, border images…
And if you’re brave enough, you can brew up some magic 🧙♂️✨

If you want to trigger some animation at a fixed point and just have it run that would not bee possible with animation timeline. At least to my knowledge. It always does scrubbing
“I don’t like CSS” is coded speech for “I never learned CSS”
Enjoy!!
Wow thanks a lot. I have to admit I forgot about this video. 🤣🤣
This is done with a regular crochet hook. Really fun to do. I enjoyed it very much. Got the pattern from this page

Well here’s my latest project. It’s Tunesien crochet.
Had a wonderful day at @frontendnorth.bsky.social. Thanks a lot for having me.

Glad I’m here. And very excited.
Well, the trip started with a quick detour—had to drive back to my flat from the airport hotel because I forgot my passport 🙃
Then after we landed, there was a medical emergency on the plane and doctors had to attend to a passenger.
But hey, apart from that, everything’s going great! 🥴

Just landed in Manchester—next stop: Sheffield!
Getting ready for @frontendnorth.bsky.social 🚆✨
