Day to day at http://mastodon.online/@lastnotlost Blogposts at https://lastnotlost.wordpress.com/ Londoner, walks, rides a bicycle, drives a car, often lost. Still no idea what an "eco-caramel coconut latte" is.
Sadly, for all the PR bluster, I expect budget pressure will water down a lot of these plans with the urban realm-ish stuff suffering further
Transport Assessment Section 4.pdf car park plan, showing 142 net parking spaces
3/ ... although the regen plan removes some, the Crystal Palace sports complex will still have *more* car parking spaces (142) than short-stay cycle parking spaces (136) ... and a stadium of 16,000 seats
π€·ββοΈ
The regen plan for Crystal Place sees the athletics stadium proposes 15,968 seats.
Depending on how you read the transport plan, the stadium will have either 8 or 20 cycle parking spaces. This, apparently, complies with LCDS Chapter 8.

The whole transport assessment appears to assume the stadium is permanently unused.

2/ Another Tory MP stirring trouble ... why else would an MP for the IoW worry about BSBs given the number on the island's cycleways must be close to zero?
bsky.app/profile/dft-...
Yea, you'd think there a culture war to stoke ahead of this spring's election.
Why else would the Tory MP on the IoW be fearing BSBs, given that the number on the island's cycleways must be close to zero?
" ... give traffic wardens powers to impose fines and penalties and the ability to confiscate illegally used and operated e-scooters and e-bikes while they are parked."
Tory Baroness Annie is obsessed with what she believes should be illegal cycling ... drivers, less so

London Assembly statistics on pedestrians injured at floating bus stops vs pedestrians injured by motorists across the same time frame (2020-2022).
5 over a 3yr period vs 11,400 pedestrians injured over the same time frame by motorists.
But it wouldnβt be a scumbag Tory if they didnβt try to focus on something that rarely happens over something that happens every single day without fail.

The #BlueBadge and retired population data for London boroughs gives food for thought: high ratios of blue badges in Tower Hamlets, outer London 'donut' boroughs have lots of retired folk.

Wandsworth (going NOC) and Merton (going LibDem) changing won't be surprises ... the Labour admin in Wandsworth has been disappointingly cautious, and in Merton Labour has belatedly woken up to the forthcoming election in the last month.
"Conclusion: there is a significant overall increase (+21%) in average 85th percentile speed when comparing the 2013 and 2018 survey data. The 85th percentile speed is 27mph, compared to 22mph recorded in 2013" Report link when RBKC website works: https://t.co/YfW0XPbYZh
When he cites Exhibition Road as an example, he's also wrong: RBKC admitted a few years back that the #20mph scheme failed with vehicle speeds now faster than before the crazy paving was installed
#TfL has announced the 10 women whose names will be on Santander-sponsored hire bikes.

Map of the Thames Valley west of London, showing bus routes between the towns and villages. Blue routes by the Go Ahead bus company, Red by First, Green by Stagecoach, Light blue by Arriva, other colours by other operators. The width of the coloured line indicates the typical frequency of the service - thickest lines have a bus at least once per hour.
Discovered a wonderful project by Brendan Fox* www.busatlas.uk who has/is drawing maps of inter-urban bus routes across England & Wales, split into regional-ish PDFs, e.g. Thames Valley www.busatlas.uk/busatlas10_t...
(*doesn't seem to link any socials, alas)

The bus stop taxi lane bypass at Euston isn't unique ... there's one at Surbiton too

Neither have zebra crossings by the stop.
Neither provoke outrage, for some reason.
Taxi lane bypassing bus stop with cycle lane bypass to right. Outside St Pancras station.
Bus stop taxi lane bypass that strangely seems to have avoided being labelled a social injustice
