KENNEDY: You said, 'Republicans think can troll their way to ethnic cleansing.' Did I read that correctly?
BIER: DHS tweeted for 100m deportations. That would be ethnic cleansing!
K: You don't think it's hyperbolic?
B: I think advocating 100m deportations is ethnic cleansing. Yes. Your time is up

Trump did not announce a U.S. policy then walk it back. That is not what happened, and media presenting it that way does a disservice.
Trump said words he thought might appeal to his audience in the moment, with no connection to actual policy, then did that again with a different question/asker.

John Oliver (on right) gestures with his hands as he speaks. On left, a ProPublica headline from December 15, 2025 reads: โTrump Officials Celebrated With Cake After Slashing Aid. Then People Died of Cholera.โ An article excerpt below says: "... turning rows red, yellow or green every few seconds, never asking a single question.โ

First up was our reporting about how DOGE operatives had arbitrarily cut aid programs, in some cases by literally clicking through a spreadsheet: propub.li/4cCsSKP

But we're all tired of the backroom deals.
We deserve transparent leadership and independent unions.

The Most Chilling Detail in the U.S. Attack on an Iranian Naval Ship
The Iranian warship was taking part in an international exercise with many other countriesโincluding the United States.
This is a chilling crime. A shame on our country. The Iranian ship was unarmed. The US knew this. The sailors were murdered by our navy, and the survivors were left to die at sea.

The US govt mixing video of real violence in a war it started with a video game scene feels like crossing a(nother) line.
Iโm not sure what to say. I donโt think war is a game. And even when I think military action is necessary, there are real human beings on the other end, not pixels that respawn.

An upcoming California law requires operating system providers to enforce basic mandatory age verification
It's basic, and by the looks of it, near unenforceable.
A new California law says all operating systems, including Linux, need to have some form of ID verification (which theyโre calling age verification) at account setup.
This makes absolutely ZERO sense if you have even the most basic understanding of technology

Meet The Unconventional Publishers Trying To Unfuck The Games Industry
Developers turned publishers like Innersloth and Pocketpair are leveraging their success to help other indie games thrive.
Anyway all of this is endemic of the mode through which we monetize video game development. It's shifted to offloading risk from the wealthy publisher that can afford it (tencent) to the poorer developer that cannot (wildlight)
we don't have to make games like that

Bad Internet Bills
All of the bad internet bills. One website.
THREAD: Whenever imperialist governments go to war, they become more authoritarian at home.
That makes censorship bills like KOSA, ID checks, and attacks on Section 230 even more dangerous.
Online protest, documenting war crimes, even news articles could be suppressed.

Much of my favorite art is like this: a home where all are welcome, yet there are endless and beautiful rooms to explore.
Now, not all art has to be that. Creativity is communal, and art that's unwelcoming to some can enrich us all.
But there's a special kind of beauty in making wonder accessible.

Because creativity can be such a complex, subtle thing, at least some of its poetry will always be hidden behind the knowledge required to peel back the onion.
And it's easy to forget in that cleverness how special it can be when even the surface of something can evoke that very same wonder. (2/3)

Alysa Liu wins the Olympic gold medal for the United States
YouTube video by Team USA
I'll tell you what I personally loved about this: It was just *so fun* to watch.
There's a beauty in this routine and her performance that you don't have to understand the sport to feel. You barely have to *think* to feel it.
It's in the air from the first moment, and that's its own artistry (1/3)

This is a crime.
If you read the Board of Peace charter, you understand it has nothing to do with the American government; it's a private entity Trump created for his own enrichment.
This is an impeachable offense, and if this country were not broken he would be gone by tomorrow.

Frequently wrong about themselves
Sure, there are complex psychological issues at play, but surely people can at least be trusted to tell you about themselves, right? Unfortunately not.
A particular AAA developer I know of once sent surveys to 1000 players asking them which game they had played the most, then compared it with the data of what they had actually played. Not a single one answered correctly.
Zero out of one thousand players could remember their own habits enough to tell which game theyโd played the most. Player answers were so consistently wildly wrong that the team involved thought that their data must have been corrupted. Upon validating that it was in fact accurate, they went back to the players and told them what their actual most played games were, and every single one said something along the lines of โOH! Right. Well, that makes senseโ.
When people tell you things theyโre really telling you the stories they tell themselves about themselves, and those stories may not have anything at all to do with reality.
there u go, bless
