I've had the most traumatic time with my printer, but I finally got a couple of my latest zine printed. These are half size and very cute. I'll have them in my shop later this week and my patrons will get first dibs.

I need to
Fix my website
And push marketing
And try to drive business
Because shit is beginning to hit the fan
But it’s so incredibly difficult in a constant state of panic and anxiety over EVERYTHING

It’s cost me $56 just on parking to visit my dad this week

Yeah he definitely can’t do headphones anytime soon. And there’s no enclosed closet nearby.
I’m thinking if I build a box with sound proofing foam inside, as long as it’s accessible for staff and has good airflow maybe it’ll be okay…

It’s 2026 and this is the best we can do for people?!
So, I’m try to figure out some kind of solution.

People can’t be expected to put up with this constantly for days and weeks.

Looks like I gotta learn how to build a soundproof box that the SNF will allow.

His last SNF had the same suction compressor but when I visited I could toggle it on and off for him. His current place is set up in a way that makes that tough unless I just stand by it the whole time.

How is any of this supposed to be conducive to healing and recovery?

Anyhow, this video is from his room. This is the constant sound at his SNF.
It’s a compressor to provide humidity for his trach mask, and another compressor providing suction when he needs it.
Genuinely asking, there is no other option???

Tonight he commented about not wanting to go back to the noise - he’s been insisting all along that he gets used to it lol, I think someone has been fibbing…

Since he can't call or text me. I know nurses are busy, too, I'm not trying to pester them all day.

It just really really sucks that there's no tech for being able to just check in on a patient in the hospital.

I understand not wanting to be listened to constantly but when I can't get just simple updates and I'm sitting around in a ~state~, worried about getting a Bad Call from the hospital, idk
it just helps me to be able to listen in now and then and know everything is fine

I just called and they said he didn't go for testing today, it'll probably be tomorrow, so kind of a whole day has gone by of just waiting and not hearing and building anxiety.

I'm going to see again if he'll let me set up his phone as a monitor so I can check in on him.

Not being able to communicate with your person in the hospital is a fucking form of torture...
I thought dad was going in for testing and a possible surgery today, and he and I discussed that I'd probably visit later because of that.
I called earlier for an update and got no call back.
