A rounded pottery vessel with a narrow, slightly flared rim and a cord wrapped tightly around its neck. The surface is a muted gray-brown with subtle incised lines. A repaired area is clearly visible on the mid-body, where a patch of lighter material fills a damaged section. The vessel sits on display against a softly lit background.

Vessels of the Donetsk Catacomb culture from the collection of Mariupol Museum of Local History, 2400-2200 BC. Ukrainian archaeologist Stanislav Bratchenko coined the term "Catacomb Baroque" to describe such a luxurious decorative style.
Museum was destroyed and looted by Russian troops in 2022.

Catacomb culture pot found at the town of Pavlohrad in Ukraine. Circa 2600-2200 BC. Pot's body is decorated by the imprints of a cord twisted around another cord. This technique is also called a 'caterpillar'.

The Catacomb culture vessel used to be deposited at the Kamianka-Dniprovska local museum in Ukraine. The city is currently under Russian occupation. Considering the previous cases, the artefact could have been looted.
Oleksandr Buhai, one of the schoolboys who found in 1973 an Early Bronze Age Kernosivsky idol. On the right - Oleksandr poses near the chart he and his friends used to transport the statute from the field to the village. Fifty years later, the chart is functional. What a long life 😁
