A digital drawing of author Maia Kobabe, a white nonbinary person with short brown hair wearing a patterned blue shirt, who scowls while holding up a copy of eir book GENDER QUEER: A MEMOIR. Maia is saying: H.R. 7661 is a national book banning bill which seeks to remove any book that "involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism" from all public schools in the US. This would ban my books, and any other book with trans themes, from public schools. PLEASE call your House Reps and say: NO ON H.R. 7661!

sometimes it's uncomfortable to point out something bad like this but it is necessary
"Our most important advice: If you have never finished a comic before, make a >30 page comic before starting a large one. I literally cannot stress this enough."
Hazel and I gave a presentation for some senior illustration students at Emily Carr today! Unfortunately I didn't get any photos but I do have this slide from our powerpoint to share with everyone.

example of the new garbage twitter is doing by harishimasan
For further context twitter added a button that allows users to generate ai images using existing art posts from artists. It removes glaze and it basically reskins the artwork by using the existing work as a base. Twitter is no longer a safe space for art
This is something we should legitimately be aiming for.
look if a writer can't literally explain their idea to an artist, literally their one job to use words to communicate an idea, they aren't a writer
this was also the fave in our house!!
This is like paying the guys that robbed your house to also burn it down.

for our current comic, we do simultaneous uploads on our website and webtoon -- I would love to see a way to incorporate both normal + scrolling-format comics into this CMS somehow! I love the look of standard pages but there is def an audience that prefers to read scrolling style.
this project sounds great, everyone should be able to have their own website for their webcomic!!
We are now able to ship books the the United States tariff free!!
if you were thinking about grabbing a copy of Electric Bones, Always Raining Here or Decoy & Retrofit, we will be continuing to ship packages out all week for the holidays!

Canada made weird tv shows because it was all being done with government funded art grant money so they fell in this wacky middle ground between βshoestring budgetβ and βno expectation to generate shareholder valueβ which is really the best way to make art
