Honoured to judge the National Poetry Competition again. As an ex-winner, I know how life-changing it is to find your work validated by experts; as a former judge, I know it's a real privilege to read work people put the best of themselves into making. Take a punt and good luck.

Poem called The Story I Tell Myself
Itβs Learning Disability Week 2025 and yesterday I read some poems at St Jamesβ Hospital, Leeds. Met lovely nurses who make me hopeful for care offered to people with additional needs. Hereβs one of the poems, published in Butcherβs Dog last year xxx
You too!!
I had something come back this week and when I read it back I could see loads of amendments so it will have a redraft and be sent back out into the world again ππ
Oh I love this!
Love this book!

This is the first time Iβve used a power point to talk about my nature-landscape memoir, The Ghost Lake. Iβm praying to the gods of technology that all goes well with it.

He looks like he has a flower pinned to his head. Absolutely gorgeous!! π
If you can help, please do. #curae is not publicly funded - itβs me and a very small volunteer team. Weβre up to Β£820 on the bursary fund for our three eventual winners. Unpaid care is intersectional with financial hardship & many challenges. Letβs do this.
Oh yes! Do it Laura! πππ
Theyβre so gorgeous!! ππ
Ooh is that the new cherry magnum?! X
βDonβt self rejectβ is great advice. Itβs a reminder to me to stop these thoughts in their tracks! I often talk myself in and out of things instead of taking action so I will take this advice on π
Oh thanks so much Corinna! Itβs a strange one for sure ππ
Thanks so much Abbi! π
Photo of my notebook at Arvon just after @carolinebirduk.bsky.social gave us the prompt. Iβm pleased to see the neighbour collecting budgie feathers survived through to the final poem! @atriumpoetry.bsky.social @hollyannepoet.bsky.social @clairewalkerpoetry.bsky.social @arvonfoundation.bsky.social
In 2023 at Arvon, @carolinebirduk.bsky.social read James Tateβs βI left my couch in Tatamagoucheβ. The prompt was to write about attempting to do something ridiculous. My poem in Atrium today is the result. Thank you Caroline! Thank you @hollyannepoet.bsky.social @clairewalkerpoetry.bsky.social
Thank you so much @clairewalkerpoetry.bsky.social and @hollyannepoet.bsky.social for publishing my poem today. It means the absolute world to me πππ
That feeling when you finally make progress with a poem that has been bothering you for months! ππ
