If you want yet another business to run: an elite workshop helping highly networked people w/multiple businesses build their own JFDI would be neat. I think bespoke software really has to be self-made by the individual. Too many quirks + they'll need to iterate/adjust over time.
Like, as a PM building a product for a large general user base you'd have a hard time justifying all the design decisions you made in your product. But then, that wouldn't ever really work for you. We're in a new era b/c the cost has just dropped tremendously.
haha, I should be more precise with my praise: I think this is a great example of the ability for people with a strong idea of how they want to work being able to just go build the software they need to enable it.
this is so awesome. Alex unleashed!
many will do to-go boxes, which will get you about a gallon
This blog post by Helen Toner (well-known by some for a stint on the OpenAI board) is *really really* interesting because it is the first thing I've read by someone in Frontier AI that starts to get to grips with sociotechnical concerns open.substack.com/pub/helenton...
I cannot recommend this enough! I love how this course was relatable, tangible, and actionable! As someone who has been curious about how to approach next steps in my career, I now have a better understanding of what I can act on.
Thanks for the course. It came at the perfect time. As the first Staff Designer at my company, I've been navigating how to define the role and everything around. This course gave me the frameworks, language and confidence to step up and shape the role.
It's rare to find a course that goes into so much detail and gives so much guidance along the way. I highly recommend Catt and this course if you have any knowledge gaps about the Staff/Lead Product Designer roles and moving into a IC/leadership position!
This was an excellent course! It provided a blend of actionable guidance for day-to-day work and a deep understanding of the Staff Designer's role and expectations.
People keep saying nice things about my course. Wild that over 150 students have participated since July of last year.
Typesetting a google doc is oddly relaxing
watching the Mamdani campaign from afar during the primary, so many things were impressive, among them the incredible work his online video team was doing to spread the message in fun, creative, educational, invigorating ways that spoke to people
this is my story about how they did it
Was honored to help @chana.bsky.social edit this deep dive compilation of Curtis Sliwa lore gathered over weeks. There is so much jaw-dropping material, we simply could not bear to make it shorter than 76 slides.

Tbh I built this mostly for myself—my work is primarily solo and spread across different projects. And, there's no one to run a formal review process for me.
The Membership gets me a structured process + (hopefully) some great folks who are on their own interesting journeys to learn from and with.
It's not an online course or another Slack to commit your life to.
The whole experience is mostly async and is designed to be a lightweight complement to help bring structure and clarity to your busy life, rather than to be an additional responsibility or social obligation.
Hi folks—I'm starting a new club for people who want to reflect and learn with others.
I promise it will be fun if you are into this kind of thing—request an invitation here: orbital.nyc/membership
An absolute classic
Okay, sorry sorry, I can't let this thing from @ghost.org's post go.
When Ghost says it now connects to all these places including Bluesky, what they don't mention is that the Real Heroes, completely unmentioned in the post, are @snarfed.org, @quillmatiq.com & @anew.social and their @ap.brid.gy.
Oh hey, today is the 5 year anniversary of when I originally launched my book tiny.mba.
If you don't have a copy, or want to grab a copy as a gift, I set up the discount code 5YEARS to take 25% off the purchase price of both the print bundle and ebook options.
As someone who has run platforms with millions of users creating content for communities with large numbers of queer and marginalized creators, here’s what I’ll say: there are, effectively, almost no real choices for payment networks if you want to allow regular people to pay for your service. So…
ah... have you tried partiful?
I've been managing it as one-offs and attempting to convert back to email 😂. Are you doing more outbound vs. inbound?
reluctantly so yes
I'm so grateful for the community that's grown around PHP× in general and PHP×Philly specifically.
So I was really excited to find some time to chat with @alexhillman.com about the 20 years he's spent tending the Indy Hall community, and see if there are any lessons he's learned that can translate…

Randomly thinking about how in the future of Firefly everyone spoke Mandarin.
I always wondered how that might have happened.
