I love to navel-gaze, but there isn't time to descend into every nook and cranny of the linguistic being all the time. "Cringe" is a valuable assessment-- "cringe" is just the replacement for "douche chills".
I was doing a goof, but based on a real, and very stupid, thing.
Not to me-- there's a semantic contraction that puts the experience closer to the speaker, as though they are experiencing the cringe and not just evaluating something as capable of causing it, but not necessarily-- "cringe" implies an unavoidability.
I deleted it because opening an app shouldn't start playing shit in my face immediately.
But, really-- language evolves and this is how. By our very nature, we don't want language to change from the way "we" use it, but people adapt it for their times. "Groovy used to be a thing with grooves!!! 😠"
I thought "cringe" was an absolutely perfect word-- it's just a new construction: a noun can be the thing it causes. Cringe is distinct from those words, as it conjures a visceral reaction to experiencing those words.
How can this be happening? I thought Jared Kushner solved this by taking so much money from these people they can't do a war!
