So he just... chopped off some letters from the title and added about two hours of run time?
I kid, I kid. He also made one of them human.

And who knows, it may be one day. But right now, according to the Steam reviews at least, it's plagued with more than a few technical issues.
My policy of waiting to play Borderlands games (or indeed many AAA games) hasn't failed me yet.
Want to know why so many games seem the same? Why so many big publishers jump onto trends they probably shouldn't with budgets that could have been better used? God, so do I.
But smarter people than I do have a solution:

Well, money is a factor once again.
Alright. Well, if it has to be a book, I suppose I should write one.
Heh. Well I'm unemployed and looking for work so my budget is "I'd be willing to do some sort of profit share providing we see any profit."
Reposted (again) because typo (again).

For the record, if you see me using em dashes (β), that's just me being incredibly stubborn, and generally refusing to let LLMs own that bit of punctuation.
It was always mildly amusing getting (and using) "America Online" CDs in Canada
I don't normally buy or promote this sort of thing on my official Bluesky account, but Cori's a friend, and so is the artist. So if you like this sort of thing...
Don't miss out on this super sexy collab! The @SexyGamerGear x DemShenaniganss Tumbler is gone forever at the end of the month, make sure to snag yours on their site using Code: Shenanigans to save!
I've done some UX writing and some beginner-focused documentation, so I don't fault the UX writers for trying to keep it simple and approachable. But yeah, there's got to be a happy medium between "parasocial OS" and the obscure messages I see in the terminal.
My computer and I are not friends.
Digital Foundry just went independent. To those unfamiliar with games journalism/Digital Foundry, this is an awesome turn of events, and I love this for them.
If you're comfortable with the command line, have a look at "echogarden" on GitHub.
Just going to post this for anyone Googling it: the process of taking an *existing* text/script/transcript, and automatically aligning it with an audio or video file to create subtitles is called "forced alignment."
Now you know what to Google.
Apparently, the "are video games art" discussion has been kicking up on certain parts of social media again. Honestly? I was planning to write about this already.
This was just weirdly good timing.

It's just not posting the image/link card this time, and I don't know why.

I should have started using git remotes on my VPS for deployment ages ago. So much simpler than routing through GitHub or Gitea and webhooks and all that.
Yeah... nothing came of this. I ended up going with Hugo. It works quite well for my purposes.
It's done! After a couple of days of learning Hugo, fiddling with Obsidian, and learning how to manually (and properly) set up simple git remotes... it's done!
My website now has all of my best articles, no broken links, and filters for easy sorting.

Now, I think it really is time to rebuild my site... again... in 11ty. Well, if nothing else, it'll be pretty fun. I almost miss designing websites professionally, but it's honestly a lot more fun when I'm just doing it for me.
And if you happen to read Issue #3, don't judge me. I was trying to be optimistic and boy did that bite me in the rear. Won't make that mistake again.
While I search for employment, I've started a newsletter about the games industry (mostly for the uninitiated). It's on LinkedIn of all places, but I'm considering other platforms.
Here's a piece I wrote on how a game's community affects its financial prospects.

Alright, I give in. It's time to get serious about my (real-name) social media profile. It's not just for the ongoing job-or-client search, I swear!
But it IS a little bit about that, not gonna lie.
So... I'm officially looking for more work.
Get your game/tech writing here! Step right up! You know you want to!
Here's a piece I got to write about the crossovers between the world of fashion and video #games.

Well. That Other Website went down in flames. Truth be told, I hadn't posted there under my real name in ages anyway. I guess I'm just... here, now.
