Screenshot of a Reddit post that shows a collage of photos of famous people from the early 2000s posing with their hands prominently featured. The caption reads, "Why was everyone in the early 2000s doing this [sic]" Below, the top Reddit answer is highlighted and says "Back in the early 2000's it was common for peasants to lose at least one hand to disease, so amongst the cultural elite (eg Fred Durst) it was customary to show off how many hands you had." The answer is attributed to Reddit user @sealyonscreator.
Some days, I'm grateful for Reddit and the laughs it gives me.
Not a fan of Massie. I'll never get over that tacky Christmas picture he posted with his family posing with guns. He's been on the right side of Epstein, and I appreciate his willingness to buck Trump. This gave me some more insight into what motivates him.

look they are a large corporation so I'm sure they're not sainted innocents and I'm sorry if I sound like a shill, but there clearly are in fact consequential differences between Anthropic and the other AI companies politically and morally and I'm tired of pretending that that isn't the case.
Going to try this for the 3,276th time.

This is why she's gonna lose. She does not have a platform. At least not one she is publicly espousing.
I get it every year, and even paid out of pocket last year while I was unemployed (thus uninsured, 'murica, am I right?). Worth every penny, at the very least, for peace of mind. Just had to confirm that I had a condition that was in line with the new CDC guidelines (mental health, in my case).
Well now, would you look at that?
A massive study of NEARLY 300,000 people in the United States found that receiving an updated 2024-2025 mRNA COVID-19 vaccine REDUCED peopleβs risk of SEVERE disease AND death in ALL age groups, REGARDLESS of immunity from prior infection or vaccination.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
This is a bit niche, but it's an interesting and important historical perspective from a Cajun man speaking to his Trump-loving countrymen in Louisiana. The history of the Cajun people is a story of tragedy, resilience, joy, and pride. Jourdan lays it out eloquently here.

I hope this happens every day for the rest of his miserable life

Anyway the real heroes of Minnesota are the countless volunteers doing boring shifts where nothing happens. The mom of three delivering food to 40 families in her kidsβ school. The dad standing at the door of an elementary with a whistle for hours. The drivers endlessly looping, seeing nothing.

100 is the number of times per day I ask my cat, "Who's a big fattie?"
Note from the editors: ProPublica is publishing the names of the two federal immigration agents involved in the fatal shooting of Minnesota protester Alex Pretti. We believe there are few investigations that deserve more sunlight and public scrutiny than this one, in which two masked agents fired 10 shots at Pretti as he lay on the ground after being pepper-sprayed. The Department of Justice said it is investigating the incident, but the names of the two agents have been withheld from Congress and from state and local law enforcement. The policy of shielding officersβ identities, particularly after a public shooting, is a stark departure from standard law enforcement protocols, according to lawmakers, state attorneys general and former federal officials. Such secrecy, in our view, deprives the public of the most fundamental tool for accountability.
A note from our editors:
This cannot be restated enough.
Vigilance, always.
Chuck.
If Alex didnβt have a gun on him theyβd have made up some other excuse like he had a crazed look in his eye or he made a verbal threat or that he was made of fentanyl.
The specific lie is irrelevant. Just that there will always be one.
Walz: "I call on all Americans to see the decency this state is exhibiting, and the horrific cruelty, unprofessional, absolute abomination that is passing for what these f--- ICE agents are doing on our streets."
Dear politicians,
A strongly-worded social media post that ends with βThis must stopβ is not meaningful in the face of jackbooted thugs running roughshod over the constitution and murdering people. Words are meaningless. Do something.
Thanks,

R THE RACKET And don't be confused about this: Rounding up 20, or even 10 or 5, million people is a project that will touch every aspect of life in the United States. It will mean checkpoints and random raids at workplaces and in neighborhoods; it will mean mistakes, wrongful detentions and deportations, racial profiling and state violence at an unprecedented scale. I can tell you from having covered past threatened mass expulsions, particularly in the Dominican Republic, that even when the full extent of the government's threat is not realized, in practice it is an exercise in terror and a virtual carte blanche for violence against the targeted minority, up to and including outright lynching. The Times wrote that "consensus among immigration experts and former homeland security officials is that logistical, legal,
Was just going over some old issues of The Racket and found this. I wrote it in July 2024, just after the Republican convention.
I never thought about -why- right-wingers always accuse people trying to make the world a better place of βvirtue signalling,β beyond my gut reaction that they're assholes or trolling. This, of course, is the meat of it. ππ
ICE and MAGA really did bet the farm on all of Minneapolisβs white people going βoh yes, please take away our disgusting, evil non-white-foreigner neighbors, oh thank you so much.β
itβs beautiful that theyβve been proven incredibly wrong about that - may the rest of the country do the same.

FUCK ICE. Hi, itβs your pal KG. Iβm getting suppressed on threads b/c in addition to inappropriate jokes, I post a lot of political stuff. I wanna give this app a chance but just donβt know yet. Can u help me get a lot more followers, so I can do a test anti trump post to see if it gets traction?
The good news is that I'm finding fewer and fewer right-wing bigots and racists on this platform. The bad news is that I'm still finding them.
First, I want to extend my gratitude to all the people who have reached out from across the country and around the world to support our family. This kindness of strangers is the most fitting tribute because if you ever encountered my wife, Renee Nicole Macklin Good, you know that above all else, she was kind, In fact, kindness radiated out of her. Renee sparkled. She literally sparkled. I mean, she didn't wear glitter but I swear she had sparkles coming out of her pores. All the time. You might think it was just my love talking but her family said the same thing. Renee was made of sunshine, Renee lived by an overarching belief: there is kindness in the world and we need to do everything we can to find it Where it resides and nurture it where it needs to grow Renee was a Christian who knew that all religions teach the same essential truth: we are here to love each other, care for each other, and keep each other safe and whole. Like people have done across place and time, we moved to make a better life for ourselves. We chose Minnesota to make our home. Our whole extended road trip here, we held hands in the car while our son drew all over the windows to pass the time and the miles,
What we found when we got here was a vibrant and welcoming community, we made friends and spread joy: And while any place we were together was home, there was a strong shared sense here in Minneapolis that we were looking out for each other. Here, I had finally found peace and safe harbor. That has been taken from me forever. We were raising our son to believe that no matter where you come from or what you look like, all of us deserve compassion and kindness. Renee lived this belief every day. She is pure love. She is pure joy. She is pure sunshine On Wednesday, January 7th, we stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles. They had guns. Renee leaves behind three extraordinary children; the youngest is just six years old and already lost his father. I am now left to raise our son and to continue teaching him, as Renee believed, that there are people building a better world for him. That the people who did this had fear and anger in their hearts, and we need to show them a better way. We thank you for the privacy you are granting our family as we grieve. We thank you for ensuring that Renee's legacy is one of kindness and love. We honor her memory by living her values: rejecting hate and choosing compassion, turning away from fear and pursuing peace, refusing division and knowing we must come together to build a world where we all come home safe to the people we love.
