I just picked it up and am enjoying it. I struggled to finish Enterprise, Picard felt like an elongated episode of Gates McFadden's podcast, and I struggled with Strange New Worlds blase handling of the prime directive but Academny has been fun.

In reading what you quoted I figured out that Fishback wasn't a major player (yet) and just assumed the point was "these people are weird" not "HOLY HELL THE FUTURE IS A HELLSCAPE!"...

We should learn from past mistakes. Technology slashed jobs in manufacturing, mining, timber, and textiles and those job losses caused devastation to local economies to the benefit of the ownership class. We should be focused in spreading the wealth not killing the technology.
