I'm finding out how warped time is in my head by guessing at the amount of time that passed between car seat headrest releases and then actually looking at what that was.

You make a good point. I feel like it also applies in the broader sense of "who best complies to society's standards", right? Some people have the means to fully comply and they don't have any condition leading them otherwise, so they "win". Everyone else is thrown to the back of the race.

I think a lot about how society often rewards "winning" or being the best, and honestly I feel really odd about that when being at the top is often a reward in and of itself.

In academics, this is often in the form of scholarships or awards or honors societies, and these really put me off.
