I hated it from the first second and never let up. I have actually found it hard to articulate why because I hated it so completely, can’t find a way in. Just found it so phoney and shallow and felt sort of insulted that it was trying to convince me it was a thoughtful and subtle film.

Underexplored social phenomenon: the German penchant for giving your WiFi a ‘witty’ name. Never seen it anywhere else.

Having children dress as characters for book week teaches them to embrace naive mimesis. They should be encouraged to personify formal categories like omniscient naration, free indirect discourse, etc

Damas came to the U.S. from Haiti seeking asylum. After six months in ICE custody—the last four at CoreCivic's Florence Correctional Center—he died from complications from a tooth infection.

A tooth infection.

haven't done any self-promo in a while but it's payday and everyone's talking about Manchester so... if you're looking for a novel to read this weekend, pick up a copy of Poor Ghost! from your local bookshop.

The ONLY debut novel set in Manchester to be published in 2025 (as far as I'm aware)

Claiming Gaza is a 'sectarian' issue is both blatantly racist & blind to why we all care about Gaza. As new Green MP Hannah Spencer said last night 'Whether its on our doorsteps or across the world, if somebody is being oppressed or suffering an injustice, I will always speak up'
