We're incredibly proud of Dr. Hannah Mahoney from our laboratory for winning the L'OrΓ©al Canada For Women in Science Research Excellence Fellowships! π This prestigious recognition, supported by the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, highlights her exceptional contributions to science and research.
And an amazing presentation by Prof. Overall today. The attention to detail and the ability to follow through on protein-protein interactions and mechanisms that underlie these interactions is remarkable.

In this review, we delve into the complexities of NiV transmission and spillover, spotlighting critical areas that demand further research. We urge a united, multidisciplinary approach in both laboratory settings and the field, emphasizing the necessity of a One Health strategy.
Emerging in the late 1990s in Malaysia, NiV has since sparked outbreaks in Singapore, Bangladesh, India, and the Philippines. The recent NiV outbreak in Kerala, India, in 2023 leaves us with many questions about its spillover pathways.
π Nipah virus (NiV), a zoonotic paramyxovirus from the Henipavirus genus, primarily infects Pteropus bat species across Southeast and South Asia.
