Also, in the senate -- each state regardless of population or size has TWO senators. Equally represented. 100 Senators. In the House, the representatives are based on population. So California, for instance, has many more representatives than, say, Rhode Island. Or even Montana.

Now more. No need for it anymore.

I quit probably five years ago. Had satellite for decades, even when I could have cable.

Streaming is great.

"The Fugitive!" Of course...
The original series. Yes, I'm familiar with the underlying story.

I write, too... but less and less now. Started several novels, never finished them. Short stories, big on memoir and essays, poetry here and there. Love haiku.

in Presidential elections. Reconsideration of that is very much overdue. It is not longer relevant to the type of nation we now have, unlike what the Founders knew when they formed the Electoral College. It was good back then, not so much now. Dissemination of informatin being the main reason.

Trump wants to concentrate ALL power within the Executive Branch. Eliminate "Congress" --the Legislative Branch and end "states rights". As with our voting rights. He ignores the Judicial Branch already.

It's the "Electoral College" I think you mean with regard to favoring low-population states...

States shouldn't have control over legislation? Please review American history and the debate over states rights aka federalism vs. a central federally controlled government.

Our Constitution replaced the Articles of Confederation that resulted in our three-branch government which divides power.

Such a good point!

I should feel the same way, here in Idaho.
I'm just so used to having cable-like t.v.

But I may pull that plug eventually. We 'stream' now, no cable or satelite like we used to have.

We used to visit Seattle and it was very similar to S.F.

If it weren't for that darn Cascadia thingie -- we would have moved there. But I really wanted to go inland after that subduction zone and potential catastrophic earthquake/tsunami was discovered (after we had moved to Brookings!).

Sounds like a story with your dad!
You're a writer, right?

Yeah, I wasn't the brightest either -- my mom finally explained what "love child" meant when I was, like, 30, ha! My dad made it sound like I was so special. Yeah...

But then again, she said she didn't realize she could still get preggers at that age. Hello?

I had the sweetest mom!

Sounds great! Let her have the mess. That's one reason we don't entertain too much (at all?) anymore: the cleanup is too hard!

Boise, eh? Never been there.

Coeur d'Alene is a nice town. It's getting too popular here, tho. Growth, traffic. Can't escape it.

Despite the MAGA-tude I love this area.

Grandparenting is great. I face time and text -- it's not the same though.

They would love to move up here but employment is a problem in N Idaho. Our son has a great job with UC-Davis.

We can never move back to CA, though I wouldn't mind living in SF again. Too crowded now, and so expensive.

We left San Clemente for OR on a whim. I was on a trip visiting friends in SF, drove up to Brookings to look at real estate for our "eventual" retirement, found a great house and bought it on the spot. We had lived in SoCal for 17 years by then, moving from SF, which I wish we'd never left.

WOWZER...

A late start, no less.

That's the way to do it, though, if you're going to do it.

My parents had me when they were 40 years old! I was their "love child." I.e., accident, lol.

You must have great holiday celebrations! Expensive ones, too, ha!

Impressed with the patience and determination he showed me.

After we had solved my issue, he promoted Premium to me. I told I didn't use YouTube enough to justify the $14 a month. He understood. It helped, too, when I told him I pay for YouTubeTV, lol! That's a lot more but we get local channels

I think A.I. is pretty easy -- so far -- to detect.

YouTube Premium is definitely worth having if you spend a lot of time on it. I had to deal with YouTube today to get the NFL Sunday Ticket for this coming year at a discount. Had a WONDERFUL online agent who took such care in getting it done.

And now grandchildren.
Lucky you.
My "one" lives in CA -- rarely see her.

I love Washington state -- especially the coastal & Seattle area.

I thought Brookings, OR was my forever home. It was a dream come true living ocean-front. For 14 years. As we got older the medical situation alone dictated our move. The possibility of the Cascadia event spooked me too but wasn't the main reason for leaving.

That's quite the daughter you have!πŸ˜…

Everyone is one the corporate payroll these days.

Including We the People.

We've had a corporatocracy in place for decades.

NO ONE -- neither dems nor repubs nor independents/3rd party candidates can get elected without big money influencing the minds of the public. They own us.

The filibuster protects the minority party in Congress. It extends debate which often leads to the public better understanding legislation that might otherwise be quickly pushed through by a simply majority. It can lead to bipartisanship. Ads a check on majority party. But it often causes gridlock.

The 2008 election was damn awesome. But it jumpstarted Repugnantan opposition as well unleashin racist ghouls from the caves they’d been hiding in.

The 2016 elections brought about the division of left-wingers/Democrats and we’ve struggled ever since.

Love your solidarity!

The weirdest, warmest weather since we’ve lived in the inland NW.

Previously lived on the southern Oregon coastβ€”loved that climate but the area was too isolated as we aged and needed better services.

Long time meditator; have explored a variety of modalities over many years. Still exploring.☺️

I know there are a lot of good things on YouTube. I have watched instructional videos that were helpful. Music videos galore.

I have a friend who watches great movies on it all the time. Always telling me about them.

Yes, it offers a lot. Hope it doesn’t get contaminated with too much fake stuff.

I avoid ugly when possible. It’s getting harder … giving its rushing down from the top.

We’ve come so far … now this.

Nice to meet you. I’m PNW too. I like all the traits/interests you’ve listed, too. Praise my beloved teachers to this day; where would I be without them?

Is it?
AI is becoming a problem.

As if we don’t have enough lies and propaganda!

I don’t look at YouTube other than the Big Bear Valley Eagle Cams (Jackie & Shadow) and for Jeopardy episodes when the show doesn’t air on local television.

TikTok? Never. I have an account; never go on.

F.B.I. Subpoenas Records in Arizona in Expansion of 2020 Voting Inquiry

www.nytimes.com/2026/03/09/n...
Trump has long been fixated on his defeat in 2020. The investigation into supposed irregularities in the race is his latest effort to harness the vast investigative power of federal law enforcement to bolster his baseless claims that the election was stolen from him.
