Is there a way to save posts so I can come back and read them later? Or do I need to continue sending them to myself via FB Messenger and then forgetting about them?!
Creating Accessible Research for the #DevLangDis Community
A lot of research goes to waste 🗑️ This is partly because researchers rarely share results with the non-scientific community. Even when findings are shared, people with communication disorders find it hard to understand the research.

Adjectives in English absolutely have to be in this order: opinion-size-shape-colour-origin-material-purpose Noun. So you da. Have a lovely little old rectangular green French silver whittling knife. But if you mess with that word order in the slightest you'll sound like a maniac. It's an odd thing that every English speaker uses that list, but almost none of us could write it out. And since since comes before colour, green great dragons can't exist." - Mark Forsyth, quote from The Elements of Eloquence: How to turn the Perfect English Phrase
Been seven years since I first read this, on the English language's *completely universal but totally invisible* adjective hierarchy, and I can honestly say I've thought about it most days since.

Evidence that "children's speech is subject to a speed–accuracy trade-off where increased speaking rate leads to reduced articulatory accuracy & hence reduced intelligibility. Further research is needed on how to apply this trade-off in a clinical setting".
Story telling goes back far further than reading though!
The paediatric service I work for (in Wales)is fully staffed (for the first time in a while, apparently). However, it seems that quite a few of us are on fixed term contracts and have not heard if they'll be renewed in April so it's a precarious place to be!

I'm making my first post a picture of Rambo guarding her favourite water bowl. Why not?!

I'm looking to recruit a PhD student (Oct 2025 start) to work on a project looking at the range of cues that guide accurate sentence comprehension. Unfortunately the funding opportunity is just for students who would pay UK fees. If you know any suitable applicants please tell them to email me.
Good morning.
Word of the Day is as beautiful as it is underused. ‘Confelicity’ is finding joy in the happiness and success of others.
Information sheet requesting research participation for Project dara. It says: "The Dara project 'Exploring Information' is looking for adults with Aphasia or Developmental Language Disorder' to explore visualisations." It goes on to explain "About the research" (data visualization for everyday decision making); "What will happen" (language assessment and diary exercise); and "Why this research is important" (existing research in data visualization doesn't consider language needs). If you are interested please contact Niamh.devane.2@city.ac.uk for more information.
The dara project is looking for adults (>18yrs) with #aphasia or developmental language disorder #DLD to take part research.
We are exploring how people with communication needs use visual information.
If you'd like to take part, we'd love to hear from you!
