Ugh, the word I actually wanted was "toxic". Sigh.

Where can we send the dirty economists?
Terrible name, though at least self-describing⦠I'm actually curious about the choice of refering to X by its deadname. (Even old New York was once New Amsterdam!)
β¦ and whether a comma should always follow both? π
The purpose of the system is what it does, Yvonne.
Legibility begins with L*.

I have a wild theory that a lot of people are extremely hostile to any sign of systems thinking because it implicitly pushes the conversation to problem space from solution space.
GenAI tooling is weird. Itβs βjustβ an intervention. Because itβs a tool. Any tool introduction is an intervention. Which means they work the same way any intervention work:
1. Understand the preconditions and culture norms required for success
2. Set people up for success
3. Respond to feedback
Hey, home-river neighbor, I'm Kennebec River, myself. (great prompt!)
I should know better than to wordplay, but I'm incorrigible.
Lol, no, I just had never noticed that al pastor could be perverted in this specific way!
Looks like AI pastorβ¦ π¬
I wonder if it could be framed as a high scores / leader board list. Enshrine their mega-success identity while also crediting them for funding society.
I'm especially fond of the instant pot because it's given me insight into adoption of technologies. The people I know who use the instant pot regularly are people who cooked without one. Of the people I know who bought one, no one who said, "this will get me to cook more" still uses it.
Thanks @ruthmalan.bsky.social , @yvonnezlam.bsky.social , and @johncutle.fish for the systems thinking discussion / group therapy today! What a great way to kick off the new year. π
Added to my "to cook" pile. In return, here's my best new (to me) recipe of 2025:

"Digital Brutalism"?
I made this today, and it was yum! Thanks.
I think your DMs might be restricted to mutuals? I'll try Mastodon instead.
While I've enjoyed your insights through the years, this new fact demands a coffee/beer (and/or donut) in either SF or mid-coast ME someday!
Where in Maine? I grew up in Augusta, myself.

Oh, now I see the answer is Flightradar, which is clearly the marine traffic of the skies. Carry on!
Indeed! What's the secret to this wizardry?
(Also, I took this very flight in October. It is very long.)
That was so cool, thanks! I had no idea Sutro had a newsletter.
A screenshot of the aep.dev site that shows rule 300, which establishes the rules for edition-based versioning.
The aep-2026 edition has shipped! π
This release establishes long-term stability as a critical foundation. The new versioning mechanism and release cycle supports our tooling ecosystem, which now includes a Terraform Provider, CLI, MCP Server, and more.
