Sometimes subtle is best. I didn't think this image had worked on the back of the camera, but once id had a chance to sit with it for a while, it reveals itself. I hope it does that for you too.

I've just returned from a short family holiday to St.Ives. I'm not normally one for chasing sunsets but the setting sun over big waves crashing onto Porthmeor Beach was not to be missed.

I love the texture here.

Heather in full bloom up on Askwith Moor. A wonderfully peaceful spot to enjoy a sunset and take in the expansive views over Wharfedale. Well worth the walk up before the heather is gone for another year.

The little Silverbirch on the island and the grand Scots Pine in the background sit in complimentary opposition here and make a great composition.

I like the minimalistic converging lines here.

Having zoomed in, I also love how excluding the canyon floor instantly transforms this into an engaging abstract piece. I love the tones in this.

I could spend hours composing and playing around with how ferns behave in changing light. This is lovely.

A fine specimen and an evocative passage.
