An X-ray of a snake with a clearly now healed injury from quite some time ago
Huh
In a vet check up we got an X-ray and found out one of the boys has a (long healed) spinal injury.
No mobility loss and he's pretty strong but one of these is not like the other one

Super Boo, a super pied mussuarana (boiruna maculata) with a very import message:
This is an account about keeping reptiles, but you can't keep reptiles if ICE kidnaps you or shoots you in the back
Kindly reminder from Boo, a super pied mussurana

Wild leopard geckos catch cryptosporidium in the sun.
Human children catch another form of cryptosporidium at public pools in the sun.
It takes a particularly brainwashed fool like Liam to not understand this.

My biggest concern is preventable disease whether it be deleterious genes or pathogens.
The reptile hobby has the absolute least disease awareness and Liam himself handwaved serpentovirus in ball pythons away as something prevented by sunlight. Wild ball pythons catch this. In the sun.

Liam of Reptiles and Research trying to click bait after doing things like pitching Dr. John Campbell pseudoscience and claiming temp guns bounce lasers off of surfaces to tell the temperature... the reptile hobby is awful.
This is the same person who, under the help of two aging individuals, swore everyone should far exceed any doses of vitamin D because it would help prevent respiratory disease (yes - including *that one*) while piggybacking on ReptiFiles cloning Wikipedia π€‘
These people are terrible.

This is sadly most likely true.
Which raises another question on why ReptiFiles and Mariah Healey recommended feeding them to hognose snakes.
Also
Fuck ICE. Get out.

Craziest Fitness Scam I've Seen
YouTube video by penguinz0
This video reminds me of the DaVinci Supplements reptile hobby silliness.
In the video someone was selling "protein powder" that wasn't protein powder.
For years someone sold a supplement for boas and ball pythons that allegedly contained vitamin D, but was probably made out of crap from GNC. π€‘

Wickens' significant other is (was?) a vet tech. He's been doing this for years. If it can happen to him it can happen to anyone. We've personally offered to introduce him to the University of Guelph in Canada to prevent this type of thing

Reptile podcasts getting disease wrong again
Remember, Adam is having a very bad year this year and no one deserves this. It seems after having users claim his discord was full of groomers and selling it, he now has a disease outbreak.
If this happens to you seek actual real help - Fishhead Labs, the Bartolinis, Dr. Robert J Ossiboff

2026 predictions - the world will reverse course on preventable disease. At the moment the US is just wholly engaged with causing as much injury and death as possible. That includes reptiles. New era of screening and prevention
Also see keeping pressures exposed because of rising electricity costs

I Euthanized My Snakes. Heartbroken!
YouTube video by Wickens Wicked Reptiles
I spent years on his discord, which he later sold, talking about nidovirus and facing down people like Liam Sinclair of Reptiles and Research who screamed and pointed fingers at people who lost snakes like this. I did an interview on AAHN about it
There are no more excuses
The hobby needs to change

Two baby Leachianus geckos
Never gets old, welcoming these little creatures into the world. These two were several weeks late, hatch-wise so I bit the bullet and pipped them and fortunately all seems to be well, they just didnβt feel like coming out.

Claude, an American alligator with albinism, lounging on his favorite heated rock.
It's with heavy hearts that we share that Claude, our beloved albino alligator, has passed away at the age of 30. Claude brought joy to millions of people at the Academy and across the world during his 17 year tenure. We will miss him dearly. π€

The Green Salamander (Aneides aeneus) stands out as one of the most beautiful and cryptic salamanders in the eastern United States. Today these climbing salamanders are usually associated with tight rock crevices in shaded, full-canopy deciduous forests.

I'm sure Reptiles and Research will praise this, but this is very, very bad. Animals At Home Network will undoubtedly quote Jordan Peterson. The Reptile Lighting Forum will tell you vitamin D removes PFAS - it doesn't.
This is how we got here and our native animals will suffer for it.
