Commissioned fanart for the book series Galaxy's Edge. It features a scarred, battle-worn man called Ulysses Kerensky who is wearing dark grey painted armour, a shemagh, and combat knife. The helms of the legionnaires (lovingly nicknamed "buckets") are central to their abilities on the battlefield :)

I had grand plans of making a video to show my process of thumbnails -> final but stalled ...aaand didn't post for ages xD I've learned when something is a hurdle, doing the bare minimum consistently is more effective.

Today is my favourite holiday of the year. Happy Halloween everyone :D

The artstyle below was inspired by the work of Oleg Vdovenko. I had no idea painted art could be so visceral/creepy and I find that quite impressive!

A fantasy digital illustration featuring an misty, icy river in the valley of a boreal forest. There are massive spherical formations of hematite (a type of mineral related to iron) jutting out of the forest. At the river bank, smaller globes of black hematite sits between chunks of white ice from the river. There are 3 albino fowl birds in the distance and the sky is an iron blue-grey. The illustration has muted tones, inspired by the brown/reddish powder hematite creates.

Last month I made this draft for a physical painting. Not sure when I'll be able to create it, so here's the design for now!

The round mineral is hematite. Fun fact; it's shape is often botryoidal but I chose to depict it as globular in this :)

This is really beautiful, I love the way it captures the dark horizon, and distant mountains/twinkling lights beyond that.

Wow, fantastic breakdown! Not sure if you were looking for tips on how to translate ideas; but I'd suggest matching the colour of the text to it's relevant arrows! Makes it easier to follow.

It's also useful to number/label annotations for ease-of-ref during discussions :D Overall beautiful work!
