If this is nVidia's attempt at customer support, my next card will be an AMD. Mind blowingly awful customer service. What a joke.

Full moon with a halo.
Cool full moon tonight.
BREAKINGπ: 2025 Report of the National Advisory Council on Poverty recommends a basic income floor to ensure everyone reaches at least the poverty line
This is pretty reasonable.
the less they care about the consumers who put them where they are today.
Enshittification, the poison of public corporations, call it what you will. This is the last time I participate in their toxic, hostile, and antagonistic march.
Enough is enough.
So, one last year with you, old friend.
But alas, Microsoft cannot help themselves.
It has become clear they aren't just uninterested in their users' opinions; they are openly and actively exploitative, disdainful of them. The more Azure the world gobbles up, the more of our personal data they sell, (3/*)
"Windows 7 was the last good version of Windows."
Sure, 10 still couldn't hold a candle to what Windows 7 truly was: peak operating system design; a callback to the way PCs should work. But it became stable. Usable. Comfortable. It looks clean, professional. Not built by Fisher-Price. (2/*)
Well, a one-year reprieve on my rebuild to Linux is fine, I suppose. A little more time to spend with an old friend.
Like XP and 7 before it, 10 matured late. But eventually, it became stable. Comfortable. We became friends. I eventually gave up the catchphrase I had been intoning for years: (1/*)
Holy heck. Ok, so I FINALLY have access to my BlueSky accounts again. But what a pain in the butt. Pro tip: If you lose access to the email account associated with your BSky, it is a nightmare, and multiple weeks of waiting to get access again. @support.bsky.team y'all really gotta work on that.
But let's be honest. Does CoD do anything but raise your blood pressure & make you a worse human being? Is the world really worse off without those hollow shells of their ancestral titles?
Look in your heart. You know the answer. It's time to let it go.

OK, real talk on Linux gaming.
Yes, almost your entire Steam library will run flawlessly, especially on a gaming-focused distro.
But... we have to talk about the elephant in the room. That big, kernel-level anti-cheat one.
Yeah, Call of Duty. It doesn't work. (1/2)

But don't just take my word for it. The folks behind LibreOffice (The Document Foundation) just published a fantastic breakdown of the real costs and problems with the Windows 11 "upgrade." It's a must-read.

Let's be clear: my first Windows was 3.11 for Workgroups. At this point, I'm sure a copy is installed in my brain, though it seems to have downgraded itself to XP SP1. Most of my IT career has been spent supporting Windows, and I want to like Win11 but it's just bad.

The biggest thing here is the commitment it takes to build an entire plugin ecosystem. This is the foundation of #OpenSource: Freedom & choice. Kudos to the @linuxfoundation.org; one of the few organizations out there I would trust to do this right.
To me, the bigger story here is the deep rooted lack of critical thinking in society in modern era. A lack of will to truly listen and understand what these technologies are, rather than desperately anthropomorphize them into something they are not. And these AI companies love to hype the idea.
Not sure this is ecologically sound beyond the microbiology scale. I get the possible need, but still.. Seems super risky, even with a novel species.
Just absolute, pure Zuck slime. Goddamn Meta.. Cringy mofos. Why does anyone even use Facebook anymore? Oh right, Marketplace.... lol.

Let's talk "Green IT." Feels like a contradiction, doesn't it? But what if the most eco-friendly choice for your business IT also gave you more control and lower long-term costs? It's more possible than you think. π§΅π

Aww man, it'd be so cool to see Wrath of Khan in a theatre again! I was a wee little one the last time. Looks like a fun night! Unfortunately Houston is a little far for this Trekkie to travel.
Ah yes... Pope Felonious, the first of his name.
Another spicy day already. Someone hit the Summer button prematurely. #yyc

Psst, mailchimp links don't work like this.
If you've ever been on a cave tour where the guide shines a black light, you've already had this explained to you by the tour guide, so this whole statement is irrelevant to you. :P
A foggy, snow covered cityscape picture of Calgary, Alberta.
Screw you too #Calgary.
