The Resonant Computing Manifesto
Technology should bring out the best in humanity, not the worst—a manifesto for resonant computing built on five principles that reject hyper-scale extraction for human flourishing.
Remember when the internet wasn't awful? We can go back to that.
Some friends and I have released the Resonant Computing Manifesto: a call to bring back such a time, to see if we can bring back a world where technology works for us, rather than against us.

Zillow Removes Climate Risk Scores From Home Listings
Lol, Zillow tried to rate the climate risks facing individual properties. The real estate industry *hated* it, precisely because it worked -- it made selling risky properties more difficult. So they rebelled & Zillow caved.
Don't look up!

I may have created a new term.
Worksloppage (noun): The phenomenon where productivity actually halts or decreases because you're spending time sorting through, editing, or fixing AI-generated content rather than creating original work. A portmanteau of "work" + "slop" + "stoppage."

Espresso Shots 8-10-25
"Without my morning coffee, I’m just like a dried-up piece of roast goat." - Johann Sebastian Bach
Here’s just a few drops that brewed up in this week’s Espresso Shots: designing a life from scratch, acting on sparks of inspiration, a patchwork of role models, and savoring the analog charm of tiny vinyl. #storytelling #leadership #til

Oh, this is very cool — assume I can install via BRAT? Do wish Obsidian also had iOS Widget support. I have also used @bearnotesapp.bsky.social and they have a lovely random note widget (with the ability to target a specific tag). This has come in wildly handy in resurfacing notes on mobile.

12 years of Ghost
Freedom of the press is guaranteed only to those who own one
Congrats to @johnonolan.bsky.social and the team at @ghost.org on their 12th birthday!
Here's John's post reflecting on the idea behind the product, some of the incredible indie publishers who have adopted it (including @404media.co & @caseynewton.bsky.social) and what's next.

Protests
I'd really like better coverage of protest numbers from yesterday. I'm seeing estimates of 1 to 5 million, but then news headlines that say "thousands protest across America." Please update with your city info if you have a published estimate: docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

Trump tried to illegally remove the head of the FEC and she told him she's not leaving until it's done legally. This is an abhorrent headline from Bloomberg. It's disinformation.

The ordinary questions you might ask: Is Elon Musk a government employee? Are his lieutenants? Does he personally hold a security clearance and do his “lieutenants”? Have they all undergone a background check? Are they subject to foreign influence? Have they ever done a sieg heil on stage?

@chrislhayes.bsky.social Just wanted to say how much I loved your interview with Ezra Klein. Absolutely fantastic and the deep, but meta — “what the hell is going on here” — discussion I had been hoping for. Reading your book now, which is fantastic. Thanks much!
