Long gone
Fascinating, thanks!
Ah got it. Presumably the pardon was before trial began? Only references to "trial" I can find are about schools and other groups doing modern-day mock trials as a teaching tool, eg this: www.sfgate.com/news/article...
Was looking for a cite about the conviction to see what the charges/findings/etc were and having trouble finding one. Any chance you have a good link?
It's a memorable story! And also seems so true to form you have to assume it went down that way, haha
Didn't he pull some "Don't you know who I am?" type of move, too?
Honestly, a travesty
Context?
I'm old enough to remember when "everyone knew" that Section 18 rulemaking at the FTC is impossibly onerous. Thankfully, the members of the Commission didn't listenβand used Section 18 to issue this rule.

Thomson Reuters has won the first major AI copyright case in the US. The decision has big implications for the battle between generative AI companies and rightsholders.
Kiah was one of the best people I ever met. Absolutely devastating and a horrible loss for the world.
FWIW, 86% of nonprofit hospitals provide less in charity care than the value of the tax exemption: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33966271/
And, as the report you cited states, nonprofit hospitals act in most respects in "like any other profit-maximizing businesses."

While we're at it does anyone know of a variation of @bsky.app's Best of Follows feed that stays chronological? It might beat out Quiet Posters if it had that. Is there a way to fork existing feeds with our own mods?
I have genuinely no idea who @why.bsky.team is, but their feeds are fire. Quiet Posters (link below) from them is my #1 feed. Both are about cutting out the incentive for people to get more visibility by overposting junk.
Highly recommend the "Latest from Follows" feed:
Precisely 1 post from each account you follow.
