Mine was thinking that HD-DVD would beat Blu-Ray .... and that it would matter.
Rest in power Breonna Taylor. Today, we mourn six years without her, and six years without justice or accountability.
the pitt should introduce a character exhibiting symptoms of delirium who won't stop yelling that everyone in the hospital is in a tv show
A still from a video of a tiny white horse the size of a large dog. Its forelock is braided. It's wearing a little blue vest/cape. It has tiny black booties on it's itty bitty hooves.
I just want to make sure everyone knows Mayo Clinic has a therapy miniature horse named Blue Sky
I've pretty much lost any reason to keep living at this point. Im post op and rely on medicare. If HRT goes away i will die a slow painful death. If my HRT gets banned i may as well speed up the process.
42 people. millions of trans people are being tortured by their governments because of 42 people.
I love the idea that *this* US government, which has been nabbing landscapers and five year olds knows where Iranian sleeper cells are but just hasn’t gotten around to doing anything about it yet.
This is true, but also, I think what people don't understand is how informing on kids who are trying out a nickname and a pronoun raises the stakes in way that could drive the inappropriate transitions and regret, the thing we're supposed to be so scared of.
Let me explain.
If gender were the immutable biological reality they claim to believe it is, they wouldn't need to spend so much energy policing it like this.
goddamn is this a breath of fresh air after Allred 2024
I'm not sure if the average Dem or even the average climate type has really caught on to the fact that ALL the big money guys in DC are absolutely banking on a huge renaissance of natural gas demand. They are looking at more gas, more pipelines, more more more, with no upper limit. They're giddy.
I loved Twitter, despite its many imperfections.
Then Elon Musk fucked up Twitter beyond all recognition.
I will never, ever forgive him for that.
I now love Bluesky, despite its many imperfections.
With all due respect please don’t fuck up Bluesky, or I will never, ever forgive you.
Thank you.
It's very frustrating, because what is the danger supposed to be?
In theory, it's regret, because we know there are no serious harms, there are only changes that could feel like harms if the person isn't trans.
But in practice they can't find the regret.
THEY ARE BOMBING ISFAHAN
USA folks: Stop this. Now.
jack & @jack •• • In principle, I don't believe anyone should own or run Twitter. It wants to be a public good at a protocol level, not a company. Solving for the problem of it being a company however, Elon is the singular solution I trust. I trust his mission to extend the light of consciousness. 10:03 PM • Apr 25, 2022
nobody else is ever going to attain this combination of visionary genius and stepping on your own dick in a single reply tweet
As someone who has read & shared many of your longer pieces, thanks!

I lack the words to capture it, but ... it's just endlessly remarkable to me that so many people in our society have chosen trans kis -- TRANS KIDS, the smallest, least significant, most vulnerable demographic slice you could possibly pick -- as a repository for all their fears & insecurities.
The last photo of third-grader Mikaeil Mirdoraghi, waving to his mom before he left for school. He was killed shortly after in the U.S./Israeli strike on a primary school in Minab.
What does this imply for those of us who are not Christian, and who labor under the assumption that we're protected by the First Amendment?
Pat Tillman in his Army Ranger costume looking like an early chad prototype with a jaw so square you'd think he came straight out of central casting, bonkers sharp cheekbones, a neck as thick as an oil pipeline. He looksmaxxed just by existing decades before that word would be invented. Great eyebrows, too. And he was actually in the end a hero who has still not gotten his dues
For those of you too young to remember, Pat Tillman was an NFL safety who enlisted in the Army with his brother who later allegedly tried to burn down a post office in a very patriotic media frenzy then became loudly anti-war in Afghanistan as a Ranger and got shot by his own guys for it
Turns out lawlessness is not a winning strategy. See you at Nuremberg 2.0
just a randomly prediction, i think people are sleeping on the virality and durability of the "tim sheehy breaks the marine protester's arm" story in the coming days and weeks
Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM
Like Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
the one who loved horses, the one who was a great goalkeeper, the one who kept a diary every day, the one who held her sister's hand when they walked to school, the one who read Harry Potter in English, the one who collected old coins, the one who drew rainbows for her grandmother ...
Jesse Singal: “I don’t understand why all these experts with degrees keep disagreeing with me. So demoralizing. What could the explanation be??”
Was trying to explain blockers to an old right-wing friend and mentioned the data about how few kids regret taking them or desist transition after. He said "well sure, why would they?" as if it were a point in his favor. No idea what kind of logic he was trying to use there.
It's actually a bit worse than this, because originally they predicted a wave of regret-fueled detransitions. Those never materialized, so instead of admitting they were wrong they concluded the happy, well-adjusted trans young adults would be better off if they'd done conversion therapy instead.
