My townhome complex battles fleas that break exterminator treatment / containment every March, and it's a few days of "is that a flea" hyper vigilance and it's hard to not hate spring because of it

The SAVE Act is equally as much about disenfranchising women for decades to come as it is about the current leader of this regime

The Act will hurt people and take away their freedom and choice long after he is gone

It's terrifying how many women are just fine with this

I vowed then to have the final say on my own hair

I am used to the reactionary aspects of my hair

Mom had this delusional idea that child me would be safe from predators if I looked like a boy as opposed to the way too unsupervised bastard daughter of a single mom

So she forced short hair on me until I threatened to drop out of school at age 14

My hair has a small following among children at book sales

The first time I wore my hair unpinned to a sale,
a little girl asked me if I was Ariel "because I know you aren't Merida, that's who I am!"

So apparently, dresses aren't required in order to look like a Disney Princess

I wear pocketed cargos / jeans & refuse to carry a purse bc too many book sales I attend go the way of literal mosh pits

A purse would slow me down & is too tantalizing a weapon to at my competition with

And while book sale Me is fierce to the point of being feral, I am not *rude*

The scissors don't need to be hidden; I have no intention of cutting my hair shorter

The thing is, I love wearing my hair long styled in "traditional feminine" ways

All the more so bc I have limited chances to dress in "princess”, renn faire, & regency era costuming I am also obsessed with +

Me, jokingly indignant: LITTLE MERMAID IS ALSO RIGHT THERE!!!

Mom: I'll hide the scissors & order you Midnight Ruby hair dye then 😂

The Erica photo mom pulls up is slightly different

The length & curl is the same, only this time, the very front part is worn in a braided crown on top of her head

EXACTLY the way I wear my hair when I need it out of my face & my all time favorite style for attending book sales

Her "unstyled" hair is flowing freely, the same length (& curl level I favor) mine was a week ago

So I tell mom (who witnessed one of the "m*ga hair" comments) to look Erica up as an example
