For comparison, the entire annual budget in fiscal year 2023 for USAID — an agency decimated last year under Trump, whose administration justified slashing the aid effort as “clearing significant waste" — was around $40 billion.
If the Iran war continues, it'll eclipse that in less than a month.
The defining feature of this war thus far is that the US and our allies have basically zero appetite for sacrifice or casualties or friction or attrition because, (and I cannot emphasize this enough), this was not a war that anybody actually believed we needed to fight.
Jen's getting at something bigger here – a feature of Trump's character. He assumes nearly all precedent exists because those who preceded him were idiots. He does not (cannot?) imagine that sometimes things are the way they are for good reason. That personality defect is a national security threat.
this broadly isn't true (though obviously the religious claims about him are a matter of faith)
Not an answer to the question, but I'll admit it took me a few seasons to realize Wheeler from Captain Planet was a douchebag, if an honorable one in the end.
I can imagine it'll be a problem for the fiolks caught up in the run-of-the-mill stuff JAGs often deal with. Bad—or maybe good—time to get a DUI or have the MP called to a domestic incident.
Nothing more important than content and little more than content to show for it.

Hasnt money been flowing?
This is important but he real test here is whether or not Rogan or any of the other brocasters will admit that *they* were wrong to trust Trump.

The only worse than liberal you can be in Wyoming is "from outta town with an agenda." By contrast, Montana loves carpetbaggers.

“Oh they did such a nice job with him. He looks so lifelike. So peaceful.”
There was a pundit class determined to insist that Trump had presided over a durable political realignment, because realignments are sexy.
Unsurprisingly, it turns out to have been the normal political pendulum, which pundits hate.
The truth might be more terrifying than ignorance ever could be.
Blisters if they're lucky. Haglund's deformity is not fun!
NEW: The Iranian drone strike that killed 6 U.S. troops in Kuwait at the start of the war was far more devastating than previously disclosed.
Dozens suffered traumatic brain injuries, burns, and shrapnel wounds. At least one required an amputation. More than 30 remain hospitalized. (CBS News)
Looking great, sir!!
He didn't slave over that hot makeup counter in his office for nothing.
Image, people! Image!
When they deploy troops in Iran they’re gonna avoid admitting they put ‘boots on the ground’ by making all the soldiers wear ill-fitting Florsheim loafers
Maybe we as a species should go extinct sooner rather than later.
Today at noon I'll be on a panel with the great @nateraymond.bsky.social about how we cover federal courts today. It'll be followed by a panel on state courts and then a panel of judges! Should be a great event—anyone can sign up here and submit questions: tinyurl.com/covering-cou...

Went from “Trump is going to make everything cheaper” to “suck it up, buttercup” fairly quickly
The way to own it.
Going great, sir!!
Attorney General Pam Bondi has quietly relocated to one of several military bases in the Washington area where other Trump administration officials also live, after facing threats from drug cartels and critics of her actions in handling the Jeffrey Epstein case, according to people familiar with the situation. Ms. Bondi moved from an apartment in the city within the past month in response to an array of threats flagged to her staff by federal law enforcement, these people said, including an uptick in criticism of Ms. Bondi, and threats relayed by investigators. One catalyst was an increase in threats following the capture and prosecution of President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela in January, according to a senior official with direct knowledge of the situation who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss security matters.
So Bondi moved into military housing like everyone else. NYT says ONE reason is bc she's in charge of prosecuting VZ's president (weird. Merrick Garland didn't have to hide during JOH prosecution).
Wanna bet that a more pressing one is her shenanigans re Epstein?
