True dat. Just what Big Pharma and the insurance companies are paying them is enough to launch a new country.

I've yet to read a story set on a college campus that experiences an alien invasion, and I think it would be kind of hilarious to see if the aliens could easily assimilate. I suspect nobody would even notice they're "different."

Write faster! I want to know what my two favorite female detectives are up to!

Nice to see some of the baby detectives getting their chance to shine.

I was slavishly devoted to this show.
Absolutely unpredictable in so many ways.
I spent time after every episode learning more about the real people portrayed and the locations, so it was a history lesson for me as well.

Toby Stephens was "immaculate," (to steal from Snoop Dogg).

I lived in Milledgeville for five years. I can't remember if there are any dogwoods in that area.

Having spent decades in higher ed, my first thought is always a murder mystery. It's so easy to imagine those people on campus who make life miserable getting their just rewards! 😆

I guess it could be a corporate takeover (as is also happening in higher ed) or a romance. Alien invasion?

Interesting. And thought-provoking.

I'd read it just based on these photos!

Over my reading life of MANY MANY MANY decades, I've been all of these. Right now, I'm in the "I do not have to finish this book if I'm not engaged" stage, which took me many years to be OK with. I just want to read for entertainment. I prefer mysteries but will read almost anything (except horror).

Here's a notion:
Let's tell the idiots in #LaLege and the governor's mansion that the shortfall comes from their paychecks. After all, they're in charge of the budget. See how quickly this gets cleared up.

I went to college in Natchitoches, and walking through campus in the spring, you'd see almost a snowfall of dogwood petals under the trees. It was glorious! (Of course, my allergies kicked in and I was miserable, but it was still beautiful.)

If you don't do your job in the real world, you don't get paid.

Let's tell Congress, president and the cabinet THEY DO NOT GET ANOTHER PAYCHECK until this BS war is over and the Epstein files are released. Let's see how long all this lasts.

I would imagine they've never even sent Barron to the grocery store. He probably needs a minder to find his way to classes (if he's even still going).

W. was inept, to say the least, during his presidency. But I think that there is a decent human being in there.

With TFG, there's not a shred of decency or a molecule of intelligence.

And again Fallon acts like a nerdy 14-year-old boy who's never been to a concert.

Alina is such a – you know. Purposely mispronouncing Kamala's name. Getting the wrong name of the person whose funeral she's criticizing. Beyond that, nobody cares what Alina says anyway.

When I was a professor, I always cautioned my students about NOT depending on spell check because "pubic" is a real world. And at least ONCE A SEMESTER I got something turned in with "pubic relations" because they DID NOT read before submission.

While I support this idea in theory, I'm reminded that "any woman" isn't always a good idea. A few come to mind: (not all elected but all in government, now or in the past)

Pam Bondi
Kristi Noem
Karoline Leavitt
Lauren Boebert
Susan Collins
Marsha Blackburn
Katie Britt
Sarah Palin
Kay Ivey

I worked in and taught public relations for decades. I honestly worked every single day to ensure I never made that particular typo.

... them by taking an objective look at what they've created and showing them how they can improve it. That's not an inherently negative approach, but many writers look at it that way.

If an author can't take critical review from an editor, how are they going to take it from readers?

AS AN EDITOR, I'm always amazed at how editors are branded as being hard to deal with.

Our job is not to criticize or tear down an author's work but to collaborate with them to make that work the best it can be. I'm a former professor and approach editing the way I did teaching: helping ...

…caused by too much reliance on social media and herd mentality, organized crime, raging power struggles and personal trust.

So a young man’s death isn’t just a single crime for homicide. It’s got global implications.

Even life in Three Pines is affected. Another great Gamache story.

Someone talked about posting books by women (one of those 30 books over 30 days things I dislike, mostly because they include no reviews).

Here’s the latest by one of my favorite authors that’s a woman: “The Black Wolf” by Louise Penny.

Louise always gives us a great mystery. But …

@playwrightsteve.bsky.social posts short stories about his characters on his website. What a brilliant idea! It lets readers know more about the people we’ve grown to love in his books. It’s also a brilliant PR tactic to get viewers returning to his site.

Writers: be like Stephen!
