I’m doing Sheffield tonight (if the trains behave) and am curious to see if he’ll show the footage used last night. But still DM me anything salacious!

Was there any gossip from Mark, Lisa?
Pulp slay Washington DC on the second night of their North American tour. A stacked setlist, lots of laughter and an abundance of love for the band.
Here's the very fabulous “Cocker's Luck” drawn by Jamie Hewlett. First published by Time Out on this day in 1998.
"Rocker Cocker In Feline Fellatio Shocker!" is worthy of being a Hardcore-era Pulp lyric.
Pulp in Dublin was outrageous fun! The band’s new songs are bedding-in well and we enjoyed a rare outing for Dishes.
On the eve of Pulp’s summer tour I’m excited to share this brand new interview with Candida Doyle.
We talked about Candida’s role in the new Pulp album and how this tour will be Pulp’s biggest and most ambitious yet.

Let’s go have some sushi 😂
Well worth a read: Pulp interviewed by Miranda Sawyer with portraits by Suki Dhanda.

On this day in 1994 Pulp performed at Leicester University Queen’s Hall.
One reviewer wrote: “The highlight of the evening came with new track ‘His N Hers’, during which Jarvis handed his microphone around the crowd, asking ‘What frightens you?’ Answers ranged from ‘rejection’ to ‘Depeche Mode’”.
BBC Four deliver the goods once again with their Top Of The Pops re-runs. Here’s Pulp performing (well, miming) ‘Help The Aged’, originally broadcast on 7 November 1997.

Don't they shine up well?
'Uncommon People' is Mojo magazine's Pulp feature and is published today.
It’s great isn’t it? Gives us a different way to view the success of a song other than by a chart position. I nominate you to do the 5x CU singles.
Thanks. It was bloody everywhere too (thank god!)
Thank you! Hours and hours of work but a labour of love.
Peel played the studio version. Island had also begun to distribute advance copies in early April so for once they were ahead of the game!
Pulp’s Common People was first played by John Peel on this day in 1995. To mark this 30th anniversary I’ve charted the airplay that each of the four Different Class singles gained on UK radio during 1995-96.
On this day in 1998 the NME landed on the newsstands with Pulp (well, Jarvis) gracing the cover.

Oh god you too! It’s been way too long.
Read about the songs that have guided Jarvis Cocker and Alexis Taylor through life.
We learn about Jarvis & Alexis’ musical influences, the relationship they have with each other, and the dynamics of their respective bands: Pulp and Hot Chip.

Released yesterday: a vinyl record collaboration between Wes Anderson and Jarvis Cocker. It features ‘Aline’ from the film ‘The French Dispatch’ and ‘Petey’s Song’ from ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’.
Limited to 1,000 copies and released by the Vinyl Factory.
Pulp’s Different Class LP with the interchangeable covers. It has a price tag of £150.
Seen yesterday at the Greenwich Music & Video Exchange. The sleeve tears are a reminder to store these records in a protective outer cover!
Stopped by the ‘For Your Pleasure’ exhibition at Liverpool’s Open Eye Gallery to admire these Donald Milne portraits. I can’t tell whether I admire Jarvis’ pose, his shirt fabric or the carpet pattern the most. They’re on display until 9 March.
Good luck to everyone trying for Pulp tickets tomorrow morning. We can do this!

5️⃣ venues Pulp haven’t visited before
Thank you for reminding me of this:

Most Desirable Human Being, voted for by NME readers. Jarvis Cocker in 5th place.
Quote from Russell Senior
NME cover following the 1995 Brat Awards. Included are Damon Albarn, Noel Gallagher and Martin Rossiter.
Best Band, as voted for by NME readers. Pulp in 7th place.
On this day in 1995 the NME’s annual Brat Awards ceremony took place in London. These are the categories that Pulp featured in. Pulp didn’t win any awards (boo!) but I doubt they cared because they’d just finished recording an exciting new song called Common People.
Very fond of Oliver Jeffers. I’d not thought about Cocker doing the music.
