A verified standard. 😉
A verified standard. 😉
My blog, augment, is now not only self-hosted, but also Atmospheric thanks to @standard.site and @sequoia.pub.
But, this is just the start: it will also be a space where I experiment with new ideas about what an Atmosphere-native publication can look and behave like.
More in the post:
Check it out, you can now get our news from within apps like @leaflet.pub and @pckt.blog!
Here's an example of our profile: leaflet.pub/p/wedistribu...
Are we doing it right? 😀
Screenshot of pckt.blog showing a couple of Zicklags posts from leaflet.pub.
First off this builds on @standard.site, which is a standard schema for sharing publications, documents, and subscriptions in a way that can be indexed by any ATProto app.
For example, I can make a publication using leaflet.pub and have it be automatically discovert in the pckt.blog
long-form post in social timeline
stonking press
Wasn't happy with lightweight long-form post, so spent "forever" building full blog capability for @stonking.com
It's served from user subdomain / doubles up as Bluesky domain handle (optional)
Like: stonking.stonking.com/post/hello-w...
And we use @standard.site for Bluesky atproto publishing
Love being a hot topic 😎
Blimey I'm in the top 10 of @standard.site blogs by domain standard-search.octet-stream.net/stats (just like in school sports, "top 10" for me means "at the 10th spot just sneaking in by a whisker")
@standard.site 👋 I built an importer to let people import their existing RSS blogs as standard.sit compliant records: heron.tunji.dev/import/writing
One thing I didn't do is fill out the content of the document record as this is often left to whoever wants to extend the lexicon to define.
Slide titled "The Scientific ATmosphere" with subheading "Open, interoperable tools spanning the entire research lifecycle". Shows a 3x4 grid of 12 platforms, each with logo, name, brief description, and URL. Top row: Bluesky (microblogging network), Curvenote (scientific writing and publishing), Chive (decentralised preprint archive), and Lanyards (researcher profiles). Middle row: Hypgen Infinity (AI science platform), Layers (linguistic annotation), Margin (annotation layer), and Octosphere (publication syncing). Bottom row: Semble (research trails), Seams (web annotation), Standard Site (publishing schemas), and Viewsift (discussion platform). At bottom, dark banner reading "The AT Protocol Foundation" with four pillars: Identity (one researcher profile works across every platform), Activity (contributions compound across tools), Content (posts and works flow seamlessly across ecosystem), and Connections (professional networks persist in every tool researchers choose).
Drafting a pitch deck for Lanyards. It just hit me that #ATscience 🧪 in the #ATmosphere 🌀 is very real now.
@atproto.science → @curvenote.com @chive.pub @lanyards.app @hypgen.bsky.social @layers.pub @margin.at @andreasthinks.me @sealight.xyz @semble.so @standard.site @viewsift.com 😻
#ATproto 🪿
I built a TwitLonger for Bluesky. Write as much as you want, it saves to your repo as a Standard.site document record, then posts a teaser to your feed with a link back.

I'm probably way later than others on this, but @standard.site really opened my eyes
This is great & points at the power of publishing in an open social ecosystem
Platforms like @leaflet.pub could eventually support this kind of thing directly…
*but also*
You can get weird & personal w/ publishing *now* e.g. using @standard.site + DIY email flow, w/o sacrificing social context!
Some weeks ago, I added support for @standard.site to my website, and it's very nice to see that more and more platforms are getting support for it.
New status update! Responding to unbridged users, domain blocklists, big speedups, reliability improvements, @standard.site, and more.
We are working on a Discovery page on Margin where you can find new reads on the Atmosphere using @standard.site 😉
Since we got back from PfP✨London there has been a lot of activity in the #atproto ecosystem. This week's newsletter gives a roundup for #publishers, including:
✨ Wordpress plugin for @standard.site
✨ Byline discussion
✨ extending Open Graph in fun new ways for AT
✨ and more!
I've heard feedback on the @markpub.at lexicon! Thanks to @bmann.ca @blaine.bsky.social @thisismissem.social and others who have given really useful comments. I've published a new version for comment that is still very simple, but has more room for flexibility. Let me know what you think! markpub.at
Standard.site documentation is live !
We’re excited to share resources that broaden access to publishing on the social web.
Explore core concepts, lexicon definitions, verification flow, and more.
We can't wait to see what you'll build:
standard.site/docs/introdu...
We now have three @standard.site plugins for @obsidian.md
Latest: github.com/SootyOwl/obs...
2nd: github.com/treethought/...
First plugin: tangled.org/marcobonomo....
Awesome! 🎉
#atproto could potentially become a future replacement for RSS. With projects like @standard.site and native permissioned data it could fix main RSS limitations like discovery, interactions, monetization
We had a little bit of downtime on our site last night !
All systems should now be operational.
fun fact standard.site is the most hit and served
have a look at @standard.site and the buzz around it (if you haven't seen yet)
Did the Leo pointing meme when I noticed myself in an update blog about a project I'm excited about 🤩👉🏼
No, but really, this integration is brilliant, especially being able to look up @standard.site pubs via atproto handles 👏🏼
Big updates to Skyreader. Support for @standard.site feeds, read-it-later features, and more!
@standard.site blog posts in the microblog feed?
The @blackskyweb.xyz team is literally giving us all the features we've been asking for all at once 🔥
Okay this is sick. Gonna try to Sequoia up my blog tonight. I've been quietly enjoying the development of @standard.site and wanna see how this goes.
Speaking of which...
Hosted Ghost blog -> self-hosted Astro.js blog + Buttondown + @sequoia.pub? 🤔
The reason I've become such a @standard.site stan is because it's forming into the first real multi-service parallel ecosystem on atproto that can survive on it's own without the need of the @bsky.app lexicons and infra
I haven't had too much time to tinker recently, but I got nate.rip moved over to @standard.site this weekend!
