Real talk: Progressives have completely failed to adequately address the significant impacts of Long COVID, and this has left an opening for the far right to exploit vulnerable patients and deceitfully blame vaccines for all chronic illnesses.

Historian, photographer, school board member through the COVID and DEI freakouts. Exhausted husk of a person with long covid who loves cats, sheep, yarn, mountains, flowers, science, community, and justice. Also sometimes huge regrettable red-hots binges.

42 people. millions of trans people are being tortured by their governments because of 42 people.
Can this be a solution?
Another dead-eyed dystopian.
This guy thought heβd never have to answer for his actions. Thereβs a lot of that going around. We have to hold ALL of them accountable.
Project Hail Mary. Absolutely agree π
A lovely mossy boulder with a face. I walked past this venerable stone gentleman on Dartmoor when I was beginning to write my first novel, Villager, and it whispered all 104,000 words of the book to me. So now I have to pay it all of my royalties. Unfortunately my ex-publisher stopped paying me royalties last year. Understandable, the boulder was not happy. But now I have a new publisher and the book is being republished this Thursday. So remember if you purchase a copy you will be helping a boulder to eat, pay the rent on his riverside moss garden, and feed his boulder family.
Yes it could be argued that keeping up with world events is important but alternatively can I interest you in hugging an ancient mossy boulder that looks like a face and quietly listening while it tells you stories from centuries cloaked in mist.
Again, Elon Musk & ~everyone else involved in this unprecedentedly illegal & unconstitutional crime needs to go to jail for the rest of their lives.
I wrote a couple of weeks ago how our current medical establishment is recycling COVID myths to minimize measles.
Just out @propublica.org: How did the Pentagon make the horrible mistake that left more than 150 school children dead? Perhaps because it cancelled an effort to limit such harm in favor of Hegsethβs lust for βlethality.β
www.propublica.org/article/trum...
I wish Hegseth would just say that he doesnβt care that he murdered 174 little girls rather than telling these stupid lies to cover up the fact that they disabled the intelligence officer that might have prevented this calamity
Heating oil prices in the UK have trebled in a week. 2 million homes, no price cap protection, no warning.
Heat pumps + solar are multiple times more efficient, donβt require an oil tank and oil deliveries and are an insurance against such frightening price spikes.
platypus meme, saying "every day. we stray further from god"
My mood these days is a combination of low-res brain fog and constant moral injury
"I think many people in academia could do more if they wanted to. They could reorient part of their research line to the climate crisis in a similar way to how, during [WWII], many people repurposed themselves for the war effort. Or...be an activist or advocate."

"But unlike [Renee Good and Alex Pretti], Martinez was not protesting - he was driving by the scene of a road accident where ICE officers were helping to direct traffic."
This amazing scientific advance may one day lead to either more effective treatments or dare I say perhaps a cure.
This is why it is vitally important to fund basic scientific research.

I like this analogy, and I'm going to try to figure out how to expand it to encompass the fact that at volumes greater than a sipβa novel, a movie, even a three-minute video clipβAI turns inevitably to bilgewater.
Insanity.
Trump is not the unfortunate victim of job βlossesβ; he is destroying jobs, especially manufacturing jobs. And in savaging medical and scientific grants and going to war with universities, Trump is further undercutting one of Americaβs greatest sources of long-term growth and productivity
BOOK REC TIME TO ALLL
He *still* thinks "asylum seekers" means "came out of a mental asylum".
LOUIS!! π
These people think so illogically. Trans women were transed out of being the gay men they βreallyβ are, and, next theyβre going to go prey on WOMEN in bathrooms??
The CIA-backed coup against Prime Minister Mosaddegh which installed the Shah is also key for understanding why some Iranians invaded the U.S. embassy in 1979 (tragically taking the employees hostage). Many believed the prior coup was planned in the embassy and feared another would happen.
I don't think you have to Nostradamus to figure that bombing Iran might raise oil prices. And it seems pretty obvious that buying oil in advance of causing an oil price spike might just save Americans a lot of money. But...
...maybe there wasn't much planning?
This is why I find it interesting that, in the week after this person (the 7th US service member killed in Trump's illegal war), DOD never managed to evacuate them to Ramstein to treat injuries suffered on March 1.
Wait what?
Again, the unifying 𧡠about Trumpβs foreign policy is not realism or neo-royalism. Itβs the extension of sexual assault/predation/partner abuse to IR. If he thinks youβre his macho pal, heβll respect you/your sovereignty. If not, heβll try to violate you & humiliate you. Epstein-ism, if you like.
I bought a book on talking to kids about sex when my oldest was about six. First thing it said - the best thing you can do to prevent suicide in your kids is talk to them about people being gay like itβs normal. So we did. Worked great. Just wish weβd thought to include trans people in that!
