This is the title of a 147 chapter FMA Brotherhood fic on AO3 that started as a few disconnected sex scenes 8 years ago, and is now one of the leading human treatise on death, identity and dignity in the imperial fascist state.

Four potatoes on a beef of salt.

Four potatoes on a beef of salt.

As I'm on intermittent fasting breakfast won't be for over an hour, and with nothing else to do today I can let myself be a little extra.

Time to bake potatoes.

30 years ago tonight:

I had to remember to take 7 medications at a time when I was having significant memory issues, each with a different dosage and window. I forgot a lot.

There's a lot of reasons I believe it's not ultimately practical, but I always loved the concept.

I transcribed a talk long ago where they said the biggest issue to ensuring medication is effective is making sure the patient takes it.

A cool idea they suggested would be 3d printing patient medication in a single pill that would have barriers to break down to deliver dosages at the correct time.

Your weird Star Trek fact of the day is Jonathan Frakes outranks William Riker in Starfleet.

Charnel emperor of a christofascist superstate perpetuating the forever war sounds like 40k but it's actually just the 80's but somehow worse.

Want it to get weirder?

William Riker was portrayed onscreen by Jonathan Frakes, but he did not portray Jonathan Frakes.

The year is 2031 and Hollywood is pleased to announce the industry is improving credits for moviegoers by speeding up the more unionized the list is.

One last thought on jealousy and envy of more successful peers:

You’re not a monster for feeling it. Jealousy is a reaction, nearly an instinct. It’s the easy way

Being happy for ppl’s success takes practice. It’s a *conscious decision* you make over and over. It’s hard at first, but it’s worth it

22.05.2025 07:32 πŸ‘ 678 πŸ” 168 πŸ’¬ 8 πŸ“Œ 20

So you'd recommend it then?

So banning teen social media use isn't effective, which isn't surprising. That said what it does achieve is create a scenario in which a teenager who might undergo abuse, harassment or worse on social media has *another reason* not to reach out to a responsible adult.

Great job everyone.

Sadly exactly as expected

I’ve got a load of teenage and younger family in Australia, this chimes with them and their parents experience

A veneer of protection that gives false assurance to parents, schools and politicians is dangerous of and in itself

13.03.2026 07:16 πŸ‘ 128 πŸ” 38 πŸ’¬ 7 πŸ“Œ 0

That seems like a more reasonable number, I made the mistake of trying to do it by volume and fucked up a conversion somewhere.

12.03.2026 20:15 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Can someone check my maths on this cause I knew this was stupid, but would it really take something like 1.6 million trucks to offload a Suezmax tanker? Did I skip a decimal?

As stupid as this is I think it's a pretty good way for a lay person to look at the challenges of logistics at scale.
