This goes for actual plays too in my opinion. Player AND audience buy-in matters more than immersion to the fiction of the story. Most attempts that I see that tries to move the needle in the other direction start taking away parts of the form I love most.
Immersion is not as important as buy-in.

That's great because it totally IS a worm now.

The warrior's lightly tanned and freckled complexion matches their strange eyes, which are their own colors On the right is the glowing image of a well-built scholar wearing a variety of blues, yellows, and brown with the most distant parts of his clothes being his golden googles and well-dressed tie. The scholar's bronze colored skin tone matches the strange golden markings all over his body and his bright golden eyes.
