Any severance pay? Able to collect pension?
Just heard that NIH Intramural now allowed to hire postbaccs and postdocs that are US Citizens or Permanent Residents. Not sure if this means that international visa holders are excluded. Also unclear if purchasing issues are being resolved or not cc @jeremymberg.bsky.social
I'm just getting around to reading the Reddit, but why are there so many deleted posts, and why is there no actual information regarding specifics? I genuinely want to know...

The HHS reorganizing--nice overview, including an org chart that suggests issues. E.g., "NIH is 1st & foremost a research agency...CDC is a public hlth agency...putting 'sci into action'... (M)oving key Centers out of (CDC)...thus removes the 'action' component, potentially resulting in gaps..." ππ§ͺπ·
Parked in 21 lot at the bottom of a stairway to NIH Bldg. 1 on a Sunday (yesterday, before another massacre).
Does the HHS policy that was written in 2024 not have similar statements? I haven't read it yet, but it appears to predate the current administration.
NIH has rescinded its scientific integrity policy. Hard to see this as anything other than clearing the way for shoddy research on things like vaccines. Regardless of the rationale, it's bad news for public health.

And what was the fate of this external review board?
Spotted in an NIH parking lot back in November 2024.
The House just passed a budget and it goes to the senate. Anyone know what the proposed NIH budget is?
The House Continuing Resolution budget βadjustmentsβ for NIH are drastic. Here are some examples:
This appears to be way more than just 18F. Any idea what the target total cut is for the RIFs at GSA? Agency plans aren't even due for proposal until 3/13, so this is hyper fast.
Both seem to be functioning for me

This𧡠about indirect cost rates for federal grants is good but there's a video from the NIH that provides a good walk through on the subject. Still relevant even though it's almost 10 years old (in normal times the federal government doesn't change quickly).
youtu.be/1XvVibv2opQ?...
This is extremely bad. The claim is that private foundations donβt pay this level of indirect costs so the US government shouldnβt. This is actually because the private foundations are allowed to COST SHARE with US government support
This says effective today NIH will only cover 15% indirect costs.
"For any new grant issued, and for all existing grants to IHEs retroactive to the date of issuance of this Supplemental Guidance, award recipients are subject to a 15 percent indirect cost rate."

Apparently Kasatkina was also ill a couple of days before her match. Something going around perhaps, bummer.
What was the reason for the retirement?
