I made this animation long ago but it's exactly the Bluesky effect

When I was still doing things in Unity, I was obsessed with making the "perfect" looking sword trail shader, but quit on that attempt.

Since then, I've moved on and made a better one in Godot, but not had a reason for sword slashies since!
