Beleth, also spelled Byleth (I chose not to spell it that way to remain distinct from the Fire Emblem character) is a demon king from various demonology grimoires like Dictionnaire Infernal (which this image is from) and the Ars Goetia to name a couple. In Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, he's apparently summoned by Noah's son to aid in writing mathematics after the flood. For my personal lore, I decided to lean into two aspects of the demon, which is his intelligence and how he "grants the love of men and women." The Beleths are governors of cities that use their ability to charm others into their service by "granting their love's desire" which is usually of a lustful nature. Giving into this desire once is all it takes for a Beleth to have a permanent connection to you and command you. The weakness of this otherwise debilitating affliction is that orders must be issued vocally, so if obeying an order takes you out of earshot, you are technically free. But the Beleths are aware of this downside and manipulate based on fear and loyalty, and focusing on commanding respect, making their commands multi-layered to perpetuate a yearning to serve in compensation for their newly invigorated desires; in other words, using a single command to create a feedback loop of desires. My recently introduced OC, Salome, is the daughter of a powerful and respected Beleth, but she has lost sight of using her powers to gain influence and instead focuses on fulfilling her own lascivious desires. Her story focuses on her quest to regain her father's favor after, in his eyes, humiliating herself and showcasing herself as weak to the city he wants her to command.

My recent OC is based on the classic demon, Beleth, from demonology books (image from the Dictionnaire Infernal by Jacques Collin de Plancy). Her story is a bit spicy, so I avoid going into too much detail. More in alts.

I'm already charmed by the characters, how they interact in fun even when wordless ways, and all the detail in all the panels! I'm not much of a webcomic person but I'm looking forward to seeing more of this story!

Roux is a ranger and a part of a group of ragtag heroes looking to defeat a bandit queen and her posse. But, being the weakest and most easily teased member of the group, he has a lot to prove. Well, one thing leads to another and suddenly he's getting married to a bandit henchman!

Daylight, despite growing to become very beautiful, was bullied as a child for being easily overwhelmed by strong scents, especially those near her home coming from the jungle of giant flowers. Because these plants emitted magic-infused pheromones, aphrodisiacs and even hypnotic or psychoactive substances, she was constantly battling this sensitivity and its assault on her mind and senses. She has a bad stutter because of both the malady and the bullying. Nonetheless, she is extremely intelligent, having learned extensive language studies, chemical and pharmaceutical knowledge, how to identify just about every kind of the never-ending list of flora in the jungles, and how to weave and sew special fabric expressly to capture and either contain or repel scents. She worked with an apothecary to develop a medicine to suppress her symptoms. But now, she seeks employment at a famous fairy's conglomerate that works with medicines, perfumes, and fashion, all elements that her lines of expertise would benefit her. They also work with the same sorts of scents that overwhelm her, but in her mind, confronting it is a necessary evil to potentially discover a permanent cure.

My OC Saiua, a well-off harionago that nonetheless lives closer to a crime-prone district in the "Capital for All" of Unity. She has a favored barber in that district she frequents while performing as a geisha. But she has recently latched onto Norino, a new employee at her favorite barbershop. She likes smaller men she could wrap up in her hair.

Saiua is inspired by the harionago, a yokai from Japanese folklore, and one of a few that are essentially women with possessed or evil hair. Yokai.com mentions them having hooks on their hair to rip men apart for devouring. (I was having issues digging deeper. I have a couple books on yokai where I found lots of inspiration for writing my novel and world-building. But they didn't have any mention of this specific yokai, although you can find the futakuchi-onna around, which is the yokai that Filia from Skullgirls seems to be based off of.) In the case of my OC, she merely has prehensile hair that grows quickly and has to be cut repeatedly on a bi or even tri-weekly basis. And also, she isn't hunting for men to tear apart, but she MIGHT be hunting for men for other reasons.

Semi-related to the cat OCs I recently posted, here is the onza, a type of cryptid in Mexico like a cougar but more dangerous. Other references for it instead mention that it is the rarest kind of a certain mid-sized cat in a region (like if a melanistic panther is rare, then it would be called an onza by the populace.) The image here is one of a few books written about it, not unlike how people write about bigfoot, although the onza stories are a bit more rooted in reality as it were. For my OC universe, I refuse to call species and races as "cat-people" or anything uninspired like that. But I had different ideas in mind for some other more well-known cat creatures like nekomata from Japanese folklore or the Scottish cait-sith. So I decided to grant the spotlight to Mexican folklore for the domestic cat-like people of my world. Also, while it was a coincidence, my world building led to the region primarily inhabited by onza to have a lot of influence from highly Catholic parts of the real world such as Spain, Italy, and Mexico along with having South American geological inspiration in the form of its mountains, rivers and rain forests. But with that said, I drew upon other mythological felines like the Chinese baihu for tigers or medieval pardus for other infamous "big" cats (ranging from leopards to servals). Onza is for those closer to domestic cats in vibe. So similarly, onza can be found in just about every region in my world. But my three current onza OCs are all focused on the same 'South American meets Catholic Spain & Italy' inspired region.

I realized a fun thing I can do on here is talk about the myths and folklore I draw inspiration from for my OCs and world building.

Panel 1: Calixte hovers overhead without his fancy coat, holding a syringe filled with aphrodisiac drugs that he had gotten Euphemie addicted to. Looking to test a new concoction, he threatens her with, "Let's not complicate this. Take this dose via syringe. Otherwise, I'll have my men hold you down, we cut open a vein... and administer via IV. The choice can't be clearer..." Panel 2: A nebulous amount of time had passed and Calixte has the "Princess" Euphemie in a compromised position with tongue pierced through by Calixte's needle and pinned to the table with a simple forefinger holding it in place. He asks, "Do you understand your position?" She moans out, "Ahm thawry" He coldly responds, "I don't want your worthless apology, I want your obedience." Crying, she says, "Ah'll ohway! Ah'll ohrwayhy!!"

This is Priela, an undersea designer of clothing and lingerie. She's extremely shy and laments that her work has finally brought her into the limelight.

This is Oaklynn, a sylph that, through a roller coaster of events including losing her gunsmith father to bandits, being forced into partnering with those criminals, having their boss chop off her arm for disobedience, and finally escaping with a wind pistol, revolver and a horse, she is now on a mission to take revenge with both sides of the law hunting for her.

This is Unime, a pharaoh from an age where necromancy was an art form that has long since been repressed and considered black magic. She willingly allowed herself to become a munaiyi, a mummy that ingests enchanted honey and is buried alive in it to perfectly preserve the body. The goal was to come back in a few centuries, but she ends up awakening several millennia later instead...

This is Rusalii, a literal charmer and a thief that takes what she wants after she has her fun conquering the minds and hearts of her targets. She is an iele, a type of fae that excels at manipulative spells but are likewise able to be commanded by those that speak their true name. Needless to say, Rusalii is just an alias and even her most trusted of friends and lovers don't know her real name.

I'm working on a bunch of new reference pics for OCs, both ones that needed an update and those that never had one to begin with. I have over 10 new ones (plus everything I still need to work on, so more than 30 wips...)

I think the only zodiac animals I haven't made into OCs are rooster and pig, so I still have a few years before I need to worry about that trend

I redid an old reference pic for Aloisio. His colors may be a bit festive but that's more of a coincidence, since he's really supposed to have a 'wolf in sheep's clothing' vibe. (Although, a sheep would probably be fiercer than him.)

A long awaited redesign for my OC, Kamau. He's a demon that used to be much larger and stronger before a witch came along and cast multiple curses, the worst of which make him capitulate to strong emotions in others. His reign of terror has turned into wearing the reigns...
