The U.S.-Iran war is the biggest oil supply disruption in history
The global oil market will need to balance by destroying demand through sharply rising oil prices, according to Rapidan Energy.
βThe Strait of Hormuz closure has caused the biggest oil supply disruption in history. About 20% of global supply has been disrupted for 9 days, more than double the previous record set during the 1956 Suez crisis.
Thereβs virtually no spare capacity to address the problem.β
Rethink oil dependency.

City: We unanimously declare a climate emergency! We must make change no matter what the cost, humanity's survival depends on it!
Community: Can we put in a protected mobility lane?
City: No, we'll lose parking spots

Walk into a sandwich shop. Itβs regulated for health and safety.
But AI, which will transform the world economically and socially, is completely unregulated. Thatβs insane.
We need to make certain that AI works for ALL humanity, not just the billionaires who own it.

Today on #IWD 2026 we celebrate women leading climate action.
Climate change disproportionately affects women, and addressing inequality is essential for a sustainable future for everyone.

The Houston government inherited a balanced budget and received unprecedented revenue over the last five years β more money to work with than any government in our provinceβs history. And the premier himself is a chartered accountant.

Yeah, cool, so a short 𧡠about Halifax's finances.
Right now, after 14 or so year of taxes Halifax is at the precipice of a debt crisis which has the genuine potential to be destabilizing to our government. Most likely reforms instead of revolution but destabilizing none the less.
Why now?

Politicians are being sold AI-powered 'digital fighters'
A new app gets around bot bans by recruiting real people to post political messages generated by AI.
Very dystopian stuff:
Canadian political candidates are getting pitched on signing up their supporters for apps that scan social media for negative comments about them, use AI to come up with counternarratives then post AI-generated comments defending them from their real human supportersβ accounts

This is to say nothing about reading an article, etc where I prefer an author due to their writing style.
