Idols are incredible, I used to overcorrect into disliking idols but that was wrong, nothing about idols is easy or low effort;

but it's a different kind of effort and it's not right if all bands face pressure to be like idols (dancing, perfect personalities, acting etc.)

I think of it as relative and absolute morality, instinctively we measure how bad someone is by comparing with expectations, but this results in already bad people getting a free pass

Personally I try to correct for it by comparing with some other measure instead of depending on my expectations

If "no politics" + taking centrist positions is tolerated, then "no politics" + taking queer-friendly positions should at least be just as tolerated.

But practically speaking "keep politics out / no politics" is often said as if only one side is political, so IMO it's confusing phrasing at best.

No politics can mean "accept our position and don't discuss it here", which can be meaningful because not every space is capable of allowing controversial topics. In this sense, a space both stating a position and disallowing political discussions at the same time can make sense.
