Schultz called him a defensive end, but PFF indicates he lined up at defensive tackle for 189 snaps, edge for 26 snaps. Spent the first half of last season on Atlanta's practice squad, played in the last 7 games with 2 sacks. Would assume this is a guy signed to compete for a roster spot.

Jordan Schultz: The #Bears are signing veteran DE Kentavius Street.

Street has been with the Falcons since 2023 and brings 10.5 career sacks to Chicago.

It is strange given that low of a price. I think either 1) turnovers masked some deficiencies and Bears are seeking an upgrade (bad news for Tyrique who didn't play over Wright) or 2) they might be looking for DBs with inside/outside/safety versatility for scheme reasons. Just some guesses of course

Fowler: Lewis was a versatile piece for Bills over six seasons, playing corner, safety and nickel corner.

Agreed. Fairly apparent to me that the success of the defense depends on if the Bears hit on drafting some defensive line talent early in the draft, otherwise they’re just running it back by swapping out some vets.

Garafolo: The #Bears’ deal for Kalif Raymond, per me and Ian Rapoport: One year, $5.1 million. After five seasons in Detroit, Raymond heads to Chicago.

Kalif Raymond had 24 receptions, 289 yards, and 1 receiving TD last year. His primary role was punt returner. 32 returns for 241 yards (7.5 avg) & 1 punt return TD (vs. Cleveland). He made All-Pro teams in 2022 and 2024 as a punt returner. Also had 6 kick returns last year for 161 yards (26.8 avg).

Rapoport: The #Bears are signing former #Lions WR and returner Kalif Raymond, adding an intriguing weapon in Chicago.

Cont’d: “You can’t help but watch, and it’s not the same defense, but Seattle, and how that defense plays. If we can get that mindset, that violence and speed that they play with, we can really pair this thing up [with the offense] to be something special.”

Little bit surprised that Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker haven’t signed anywhere yet, but the safety draft class is deep this year.

Dillon Thieneman, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, Keionte Scott (CB/Safety hybrid), AJ Haulcy, and Bud Clark are all awesome. There’s others as well.

Bears have options.

Biggs, regarding Braxton Jones: This is a potential win/win for both parties. The team has pressing need and Jones' market wasn't what he'd hoped because he was never 100% healthy last season. Bears get a bridge left tackle and Jones can be in a much better spot to hit free agency a year from now.
