In 2022, I counted more than 400 healthcare centers in the U.S. offering Long COVID care. @delfimarchese.bsky.social followed up three years later, and found many of them have closed... or at least failed to respond to our inquiries.

There are a couple provocative anecdotes in the paperβand suggestions for how to dig deeper in the future. That gives me some hope.
Yes, it was a negative outcome. But I really encourage folks to read this paper. It's a really thoughtful contextualization of the results and provides endless lessons for others designing LC trials.
(Disclosure: I collaborate with the UCSF team and have been in UCSF trials.)
Honestly the deeper I've gotten into issues that Hobbes & Co. have strong opinions on (*cough* Long COVID), the more I realize that their analysis is shallow and weak. They bring, but do not disclaim, their own biases and more and more, I'm unfortunately convinced they are making things worse.
Definitely

Being an adult is lowkey goated when checking off a series of discrete but ultimately meaningless to-do list items on a Monday afternoon is the vibe

Yes, thank you for clarifying - and ironically I do think that DME suppliers are extremely problematic
re last post. Interestingly enough a lot of DME suppliers are...well exploitative to say the least.
completely inhumane. DME is vital
this is completely inhumane. what about cpaps for sleep apnea? wheelchairs for people who need them? DME is not extra, it's vital

Imagine if people made impassioned pleas for everyone to be on YouTube Shorts the same way people argue we need to be on X. YouTube Shorts, meanwhile, has roughly a gazillion more active users
The posts on social media β and the backlash to LaGrossa Kendrick, who later apologized for her remarks β seemed to get the attention of CBSβ parent company, Paramount, which requested a meeting with Orlins earlier this year, Semafor has learned. During the meeting, the network suggested that Orlins was violating its rules around trademarked branding and phrases on her Patreon. But the legal representatives also urged Orlins to respect other contestants, and implied that her political posts were harming other contestants.
sure sounds like CBS threatened @elizaorlins.bsky.social for defending herself after trump-supporting stephenie lagrossa (a return survivor contestant on the upcoming 50th season) attacked orlins for being "fucking jewish."

A mock-up of an imaginary USB Inspector app that shows devices connected via USB, their speeds, and whether that speed is limited by an inadequate cable.
I would love an app that looks something like this.
