I sometimes worry that too many people think being a good critic means being a self-righteous dick about every little thing and I think far too many miss the point that you can't critique anything if you don't know how to love something.

Very good chance both games end up going as expected, but...
Canada leading Puerto Rico 3-2 in the 8th at the WBC.
Italy leading the US 5-0 in the 5th at the WBC.
What on earth
I'm still doing a GoFundMe to help my parents rebuild after a devastating house fire. The costs of doing so, with an uninsured house, are extremely high. My parents are elderly and low-income and my disabled brother lives with them. I deeply appreciate shares of this link!

Would be interesting to see how Fennel does in a little poc or something
Oh, this is super cool. I use Lua a lot in SotW (not as much as DarkGod does in ToME, but I basically separate any code that's specific to the game world itself and use Lua for that) and love it. It's very minimal, but practical and enjoyable in a way that most other languages aren't.
ohhh, I love Lisps. it is usually wildly impractical but scheme has always been my favourite language.
Drawing of Silvana with scissors in one hand and a mirror in the other. She has cut her bangs very short. Probably very crooked. Text behind her says, "OOPS, I DID IT AGAIN. I CUT MY OWN BANGS DURING A DEPRESSIVE EPISODE. OOH BABY BABY."
You know how it is!!!
A gerbil in a Stetson above mountains
TFW you try to write 1000 words but you fail, so you turn into a hat-wearing rodent, and project yourself, with great sadness, above the mountains (even if there are no mountains near you).
Seems like the criteria are centered around/suggesting Steam. I get that Steam is the centre of the PC gaming universe, but it'd be interesting to see people discuss games that don't have a presence there.

I mean, apparently everyone was cool with the original VC-backed crypto-libertarian CEO? I am the weirdo who continued to prefer Mastodon, the actual non-profit, non-corporate alternative, but y'all screamed that choosing an instance was just too damn hard so here we are. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
A headline reading βCamel pageant thrown into chaos after 20 competitors disqualified for using hump-plumping injectablesβ
Yes everything is terrible but letβs not lose sight of the fact that someone has written the Headline to End All Headlines.
Crude oil prices, showing a very sharp increase in the last day, from around 65 to 101 dollars per barrel..
Oil prices wouldn't be all over the news today if more of our economy was powered by local, secure renewable energy.
This isn't an "energy crisis". It's a fossil fuel crisis.
44% of UK electricity came from renewables in 2025. More of that plus an electrified economy => no more oil shocks.
THREAD: I got laid off from NYMag/Vulture after 14 years. The family lost 75% of income + medical. Now mzs.press bookstore, once a side project. is do-or-die for Judith & I. I feel weird telling you this because others are doing much worse. But if you could like or share this, we'd be so grateful!
I should watch it again, it's been 33 years.
"WebP compresses better, don't you want the internet to be fast!?" yeah i do maybe we could work on not embedding twenty megabytes of trackers and other bullshit JavaScript so your page runs without adblocking most of it first. no? then fuck webp. that's my opinion

Microsoft not being targeted yet because AWS is more important is kinda funny, though.
Now we see how good the failovers and redundancies are. I mean, this is just one cloud region, but,
Huh.
Got a vivid memory of watching My Cousin Vinny on a flight to London when I was a kid on one of those TVs at the front of economy.
Me too, I promise.
Here in Southern Manitoba, about 50Β°N, I have taken photos after 10pm that still show some sunset colours
which is a little frustrating if you're trying to get the perfect dark that'll yield the best Milky Way results, like this, last summer

For me, SOME magazine. I've subscribed for a couple of years now and appreciate the length and the way it provides a focus on poets' work in a way you don't generally get from more traditional lit mags.
The fact that media outlets quote people about what technologies "could" do drives me nuts. Free PR and distribution for pathological liars.
