They have not just outsize influence on the US, but the entire planet. The #1 human problem is the US GOP and has been for 4+ decades. These people are immoral, evil, and violent. You know what has dire consequences? Allowing low-population states that would be totally unable to support themselves to be political entities nearly on the level of nations and giving them majority political power in our country just because there are a lot of them.

That is the situation we are currently in. A vast swath of underdeveloped territory has been carved into individual states for mostly political reasons. They would be better served by being consolidated and the rest of the country AND WORLD would benefit from no longer being dragged down by them
