If you do something worthwhile that requires you to talk to people, and maybe convince them of something, sometimes, this workshop next week is very supportive and effective. Also fun.

A flier for Dormant Spin, an art show at Center Edo running from March 6- March 16th. The art on the flier is an epic hand throwing a yo-yo. The string of the yo-yo zig zags down like a lightning bolt. The art is pink pixel art on a black background.
More yo-yo themed pixel art. This is black fabric with reflective white silkscreen ink showing a statue of a giant hand holding a giant yo-yo.
Pixel art in black, yellow, pink, and white, showing a young woman throwing a yo-yo. Instead of a straight line, the yo-yo string is forming a pentagram mid air, while the yo-yo sleeps.
Yo-yos and pixel art, two of my favorite things, come together in Hermippeโs โDormant Spinโ show at Center Edo in Tokyo. I wish I could see it in person. Hermippeโs work is fantastic.

The new EP by Aesop Rock and Homeboy Sandman is pretty good. It's my favorite in their "Lice" series so far. https://aesoprockhomeboysandman.bandcamp.com/album/miami-lice-season-four #AesopRock #HipHop

Graffiti on a brick wall that says โNo ICE in West Marinโ
White spray paint graffiti on a brick wall. It is a large cartoon style drawing of a cat. Artist unknown.
Graffiti showing Audrey II (the man-eating plant from Barbershop Of Horrors)
Simple graffiti that says โOy Veyโ
Graffiti in Point Reyes. #graffiti #PointReyes
A charcuterie tray filled with soft cheese, hard cheese, fruits, and crackers. Two glasses full of Heidrun Mead are also on the table.
Back home now, all washed and unpacked. Enjoying cheese and mead from our favorite spots in Point Reyes.
Spent the weekend kayaking and camping along Tomales Bay. We watched elephant seals, ate great food, swam with glowing dinoflagellates, and woke up to the sound of a juvenile gray whale near our campsite. Couldnโt have picked a better weekend for it.
โPiracy is the most effective form of artistic distribution these days. So be it.โ

A board title โDraw an elephant sealโ. In it are dozens of post it notes with drawings of elephant seals by different people.
A purple post it note with a drawing of a cute seal looking at the viewer. Text says โseals are the bestโ
A drawing of an elephant seal relaxing on a chaise lounge. Its funny to see a seal reclining in a living room with art on the walls and nice furniture
A kind of realistic drawing of an elephant seal looking towards the viewer.
Various depictions of elephant seals spotted at Drakes Beach Visitor Center in Point Reyes.

Video shows Daniel Lurieโs bodyguard, an off-duty SFPD officer, violently attacking a Tenderloin resident. Moments later he gets his ass beat.
Two men were arrested. Neither of them started the fight.

Speaking of #BandcampFriday, my entire discography is up at docpop.bandcamp.com and Iโm always thrilled when folks support my music.
Happy #BandcampFriday! Did you know that Bandcamp shows you cute emoji when typing in certain amounts on the checkout screen?
A six panel comic of a man and a woman where their word balloons are actually other panels (there are no words) indicating future actions and explaining why they did what they did.
a three panel comic about Sรธren Kierkegaard in which the text of the man reads backwards and the dog forwards "Life can only be understood backwards" and the dog "but it must be lived forwards"
It's that time in my Making comics intro course when I talk image-text relations, which gives me an excuse to share 2 favorite comics that do bewildering things that can only be done in comics! Ibn Al-Rabin's seminal Le Verbe Prophรฉtique alongside the always brilliant @tomgauld.bsky.social. So good!
A wave of posters on Mission Street is calling out Google and OpenAI for their work with the military and ICE. The folks behind these posters claim to be current employees concerned their work is being used โfor domestic mass surveillance and autonomously killing peopleโ

A yellow circular creature playing with a yo-yo. It sort of looks like Pac-Man but with arms and legs. Itโs yo-yoing and almost hit a parrot that was flying above it. The flier says โSF Yo-Yo Club at 826 Valencia. All ages. On the second Saturday of month. Human-made art by DocPop.โ
Made a new flier for the SF Yo-Yo Club, which meets on the second Saturday of each month at 826 Valencia in #SanFrancisco. Come #yoyo with us.
Last year when I was checking into a hotel, the desk person was wearing Meta glasses. I kindly asked them to take them off. They were annoyed. I said, โI do not consent to you looking at my credit card and ID with Meta glasses on.โ My instincts were correct: www.bbc.com/news/article...
Huib Petersen, an artist who lives on this block, is the artist responsible for these awesome crocheted creatures. www.petersenarts.com

I've now printed and shipped over 20,000 whistles, sent across the country to groups that need em. That's 20,000 off a single 3d printer that has basically run continuously in my basement since about mid-January. The crew I print with has sent out over 1M now, and we can send to you too. toot.supply
One block in Noe Valley is covered with these incredible crocheted creatures. I'm not sure who the artist is, but I love this. #SanFrancisco #NoeValley
Stickers on the back of a smart phonle. One says "there are never purely technological solutions to societal problems" and is referenciing the Simpsons' meme of a bus driver pointing at a sign at the front of a the bus.
I love spotting my stickers out in the wild!
Saw one of my โno purely technological solutions to societal problemsโ stickers on a strangerโs phone at the gym yesterday. What a small world.
Hat tip to @jasonkoebler.bsky.social for that handy term www.404media.co/with-iran-wa...
the depravity economy
A photo of a grassy hill in San Francisco with some houses in the foreground. The houses are uniquely SF (ie lots of victorian houses). The hill is green and grassy, and the sky is a rich blue. It looks like the old Window's desktop image, also known as "Bliss".
Bliss (SF remix)
"Autechre Guitar" is out now. An album of #Autechre songs performed entirely on solo acoustic guitar. I'm not hugely familiar with the original works, but #ShaneParish's renditions are great! https://shaneparish.bandcamp.com/album/autechre-guitar-2
โThe Depravity Economyโ, @jasonkoeblerโs term for insider trading within prediction markets, is spot on. Feels like a description we'll be hearing a lot this year. https://www.404media.co/with-iran-war-kalshi-and-polymarket-bet-that-the-depravity-economy-has-no-bottom/
